I'm having occasional crashes to desktop on level load, but I also get a bug where the level will transition to blackscreen loading the level and... never transition out. I get sound and can hear mechs stomping around, but no visuals of any kind. Pretty much have to force quit as theres ****** all I can do.

Yea, I have CTDs and Black Screens all few rounds. The best "joke" was 3 in a row with a freshly started client on the first try to launch ... I finally made it into the game with the last Mech available :-/

So all said and done: the first match I crashed, then I played 6 straight on various maps no CTD.

EDIT: 0/2 drops today :rolleyes:

Yes I am still experiencing them, they started with the last patch and persist with this one. I also have an thread open regarding whether or not TS3 is having an effect on CTD in game.

My entire unit has been experiencing this as of the Nov 28 patch. Seems to be occuring roughly 1/3 of drops. We typically are losing a guy each drop during map load.

This was occuring to me after the previous patch as well; but I didn't play much that week (traveling), so I don't know if the occurance rate is better, worse, or same.

Last night I decided to try a complete clean reinstall again. I uninstalled then deleted all the temp folders and everything associated with MWO off my system. One complete reinstall later I was able to play......seven launches. Then on the eighth I CTD again and continued to CTD for five subsequent launch attempts. I don't know what to make of it...perhaps this will help someone figure out what's causing it.

Hi,

I examined a lot of logs and noticed that the last error reported before crashing is always:

[Error] Error: CTexMan::ImagePreprocessing: Scaling of 'textures/particles/weapons/ppc_beam_b.dds' compressed texture is dangerous (only single mip) [File=textures/particles/weapons/ppc_beam_b.dds]


This is consistent among all logs I examined. Could somebody else experiencing CTDs on map load verify this? logs are located under C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\LogBackups, look at the end of the log, there should be an exception notification like this if you crashed:

I am not using PPCs so could it be that the crash happens when somebody is mounting PPCs under some specific conditions?

The thread disappeared for some reason. I noticed that the crash is alwais preceeded by that error regarding ppc_beam_b.dds

I went through some old threads with reference to this. I'm going to try windowed mode after some supper and see if it makes a difference.

EDIT: No difference in windowed. Was worth a shot ;)

Crash to desktop during map load. Happens 75% of times i try to launch. Never in-game for me.

Map, mech,gfx settings, window mode, drivers and reinstalls do not change anything.

Unfortunately this happens so frequently that I simply have to wait for the next patch, CTD'ing 3 out of 4 tries is too much for me.

Never had any real probs before the "Cataphract-patch".

The times it actually does load the map, everything run beautifully, even on highest settings with avg. 45fps during heavy combat.

Really looking forward to the devs fixing this... damn i miss my MWO =P

I changed to native resolution, only crashed twice in 6 matches (played 4 in a row, which is a new record for me)

So mine is just dropping to the desktop with no error message everytime I load up a map. Here is my error report. Hope it helps.

The last CTD I reported, Caustic Valley, ended after laser texture "laser_beam_1x4_lop1.dds", but yes, immediately after numerous PPC texure load errors. The previous CTD I reported, however, ended at the "ppc_beam_b.dds" stage.

Who knows. I'd bet it's got nothing to do with texture load ins.

Just want to say that I've been getting the same issues with the map loading CTDs since the Nov. 20th patch, and yes, every one of my crashlogs has the previously mentioned "laser_beam_1x4_lop0.dds" and "ppc_beam_b.dds" texture errors.

When I actually can connect, my game runs perfectly fine.
