Continues to say, "Enemy Base is being captured." Even after the Enemy Base has been captured and the round is over.

She does sometimes cutoff mid-line. My guess is a limited number of audio channels and her's getting cut in favor an explosion/gun shot.
She likes to babble about bases being captured a lot. My own base I'm fine with her nagging but the enemy base she says a bit much.
Very happy she's in game finally though!

AFAIR, MW2's voicework had to be done quickly and the technology was different. Carole, IIRC, came in for just one day to read all the lines. There was not much space for huge sound files. As a result, I assume the messages in the game are stitched together from multiple parts, like this: Enemy - Mech - destroyed; because there is also Enemy - vehicle - destroyed, and others. You can hear the gaps and the intonation doesn't always match up perfectly. Some words in the middle of sentences, like "destroyed", or "reached" have a high-pitch onset which makes them sound cheerful. Etc...
Listen here:
Just my theory.

I think you have a good point. Breaking up the words makes it sound more mechanical, or at least that's how it sounded from MW2. I'd love a client side mod though, I want to add Samuel L. Jackson. You got incoming mother F******er

Mine keeps chocking in middle of sentences, like her microphone has a loose wire...
Is it a problem with my hardware? It happens both with my on-board sound card and my USB Headset...
This video will show you what I mean:

The sound you hear is not the result of a bad recording. This is what it sounds like in game, all the time, for me.
Does anybody else have the same problem?
A lot of people has the exact same problem (me included). Nice play/build btw. I'd recommend linking to a youtube video, as you using quicktime made firefox crash before it would work

edit: you should make sure a dev sees your video. Send a PM to a mod (I always send my PMs to Helmer for this kind of stuff) and he'll forward it to the devs.

There seems to be a lot of discussion about Betty's voice. If it should be more natural or more synthetic. Arguments based on realism, others on aesthetics or nostalgia...
How about taking a cue from real world airplanes: http://youtu.be/CMwoWZuJ1Rw?t=45s
Or a real life Betty who claims to have done voices for airlines:
I notice three things:
1- The voice is monotonous, kinda robotic, even when done by a live person.
2- The speech is fast but clearly audible.
3- The speakers in the cockpit are low fidelity.

It's not Quicktime. It's a MP4 video file. Your browser probably interprets it has a M4V (which is Apple's MP4), maybe because you have the Quicktime plug-in and it's trying to take over the task of reading the file. My Firefox just offers to download to disk. Chrome can play the stream directly in the browser.

I've tried posting to YouTube, but they compress the video way to much and they make it look like crap... I've tried increasing the quality on my end, but it doesn't work. Maybe if I try Vimeo...

Are you using on board sound?
I've got an Asus Xonar ST sound card and I don't have that problem (maybe once last night, not sure).
From my time playing MW:LL which runs in cryengine 2 I know there is a number of sound channels variable you can change in cry engine, most on board audio only do 32, separate cards like mine can do 128. I don't know if cryengine 3 auto detects the correct number for your system, or if you have to change it manually like in MW:LL. Perhaps It's auto because I don't seem to have that problem.

I mean its a nice voice ..its just doesnt fit. Its to clean ..to settled.
its a BATTLE mech, the voice ether needs to be realistic, clear, AND urgent. There is no urgancy in the voice atm.
or
mechanical/computer generated, clear, and made to sound unrelistic.
Currently it feels realistic laidback and monotone ..not a good combination imo.
And tbh, i wouldnt mind a japanese Voice actor speaking in japanese ofcourse.
Japanese voice actors are the best there is ..now if you dont like listening to the japanese language then i understand ..i mean i dont speak japanese nor can i fully understand it ..BUT what i do understand sounds sooo much better than in english

Also a male voice wouldnt be bad ether, i dont mind ether way but a male voice would probably be easier to get a good resposne from. Think old C&C red alert. "battle control terminated". It was low quality due to the period but it had a obviose tweek in the sound to make it sound electronic..moving on the series then went into Tiberian Sun which then had the voice of cabal for nod and the female voice for GDI's computer ..they both sounded great and matched well.
Anyway my point is ..i wont be using the current voice ..it just doesnt sound right.

Ease up on the anime injection ideas here, they won't go over well here. Maybe the Hawken forums.

So I take it you're not a veteran of the old MW games then? Because that voice has always been there.

Anyway if i had access to Vocaloid 3 i would make a few synthesised warnings to give you my take on it .. But i honestly CBA to 'aquir' said software atm.

I also wish to suggest Reverb needs adding along with a band pass filter between 20k and 40k hz to add some voice grit.
As the canon points out along with several people in this thread already, Neurohelmets don't project sound information to the brain they read and interpret brain signals. this would indicate any sound being herd would come from speakers/ear pieces or vibrations from the mech and surrounding environment itself.
I think that locking the sound files in a compressed or secure format and offering sound packs would be a great addition to the customization options.
Along with this customization it would be very important to see people getting exactly what they want for their money in terms of which sounds they hear. a detailed section in the audio options providing boolean boxes for each alert would solve this problem perfectley.
That is once the sound issues with betty and other game sounds being truncated is resolved.
This also does make me wonder how some of the sounds are handled and are they being done efficiently such as missles, when you launch an LRM 20 are you hearing an LRM 20 fire sound or 20x missle fire sounds? this may be a source of overuse of available sound channels since 64 bit audio processing is laging behind the rest of the 64 bit world.
