I really like it, at least when it doesn't stutter.

Tho sometimes I feel it could speak a tinybit faster, or shorten pause between words. I got an unfortunate hit in my atlas, and lost half the torso, and she started to tell her long long monologue about how badly i suck...

I agree, it's awesome that she is in! And how she is saying things is good but it sounds to "clean" I think it would sound better if her voice was more "computerized" or "metallic"

Also, I could be wrong here, but it sounds like she is saying "missile incoming", shouldn't it be "missiles incoming" (plural)?

It's nice to have Betty in, but she is far from finished. She is in total contrast with every other sound in the game at the moment, and is in dire need of some reverb. It almost sound like the voice is recorded without a pop filter, the T's and P's really peak (which is generally not a good thing). I liked the vague disjointedness of the original Betty wording, and the filtered audio. I mean, they are hardly going to spend loads on high-quality speakers and microphones in mechs that have a darn good chance of getting exploded when they could put that money somewhere else, it's there to do a job not to 'wow' the pilot with amazing audio clarity. It became the voice of your mech then, not just recordings. I'm sure you have heard GLaDOS's voice (Portal 2, rather than the first Portal. They put a lot more effort into audio in the sequal.) the metallic qualities to her voice are something we need to see in here.

I'm also in favour of being able to choose what things we are notified of. For a scout, you change targets and awful lot. Being told the first two times is nice, but if we are playing for hours and hours in this grind-fest of a game, it's going to get real annoying, real fast. I like the idea of having a button that shuts up betty in-game, not because I don't like betty, but because I think that would create an awesome atmosphere and give the voice a bit of characterisation. "Critical hit: Gyro! Critical hit: Right Arm! Criti --" *Slams silence button* "Damnit Betty I know, I know!" Sounds like a real combat scenario to me. Which reminds me, although I haven't been able to play much what with this patch breaking the game for me (everything is invisible, on all graphics settings, after clean reinstall) but incase it's not in, I want a voice telling me of the important damage values, like they didn't really use the voice to maximum effect in MW4. Hearing the critical damage to things like Gyro and actuators is actually pretty interesting to hear, it makes you consider more than just ******, lost right torso, it's ******, lost right torso. Now gyro is half screwed, and cooling is way down!

Looking forward to what you guys will end up doing with the betty voice.

I agree that its great to have her back....

I also agree we should be able to have selections for which ones we want her to issue.

AND

the sound in game is breaking up now. I notice the silence when the sound stops.

Also I would like to be able to turn her up a bit more. Even with all the sounds in game pushed up she is too quiet.

Turn the other sounds down while leaving the "dialog volume" alone.

I think the sound breaking up is a known issue.

Although I greatly appreciate the devs implementing B!tching Betty into the game for "curb appeal" for new comers to the game and casual gamers alike, after the first match, I reduced dialogue volume to zero (0). Honestly, I'm too busy calling targets, or listening to comms to listen to B!tching Betty. As a Drop Commander, the only thing worse than people not following direction is having somebody talk over you while giving orders.

Again, thank you for listening to part of the community for this and being mindful to what your customers want. However, for the more aggressive and serious Lances out there, something like this is exactly what we don't want or need.

I know Betties from F-16 and some Airliners and I would say in MWO she is not loud and clear enough and is talking to much.
Betty is a WARNING system and shall be reserved for the most crittical messages. Thinking this way, I hate the TARGET-Messages as they are as important as dog **** under your shoes. If I switch a target I know this by myself.
If there is to much voice, you will start to ignore it and then you miss the important stuff.

Maybe we need 2 voices / volume settings:
A loud, hard and clear voice (a sound as sweet as a punch into your face ;-) ) for the really important or dangerous stuff
and a gentle (or maybe sexy), not so loud one for the rest like target sellection, startup/shutdown etc.

It might also be a good idea to combine the voice warning (esp. HEAT) with a horn or bell sound as common in airplane systems.

At best make the Talk-a-lot-Betty and the WARNING-Betty two different switches so we can mute all the useless voice stuff and still have voice for the important things :-D

Personally I dig you got Carol to do the voiceovers again, and I love it. I would like to tweak it however so I can edit what commands she does speak and what commands she doesn't. But all in all...kudos and I'm looking forward to more additions to this.

******** Betty is a neat idea, however she is annoying at times. Maybe integrate an acknowledge button or command that silences her for the particular warning.

The voice is the best thing that happened to MWO for a long time. From what I dimly remember it is very close to the voice in MechWarrior 2 (I believe it was). It is one of my favorite things that the voice does not care that you are being ripped apart and stressed out, and simply informs you, cool as ever, "Heat level critical."

It's awesome.

guys, don't forget that PGI won't ask her to come over and redo entirely the recordings. Suggest tweaks that can be done without her recording the whole thing again... otherwise you're just not being reasonable.

It likely just sounds cleaner to us when we compare it to Mechwarrior 2. I'm sure the codecs used between the 2 versions are vastly different.

Would you still think it sounds to "clean" if you had never heard her Mechwarrior 2?

If you turn down your dialog sound in options it can turn Betty off. However a list where you can adjust the frequency of the sounds or even turn specific sound events on/off would be nice.

I'm not sure how the voice over's should sound; we're in the future, so that means that warning systems or voice overs SHOULD be much clearer than they are now-a-days but a part of me wants the voice to have a more computerized filter or some sort of filters similar to the older MechWarrior games.

Does anybody else's Betty have a speech disorder?
Mine keeps chocking in middle of sentences, like her microphone has a loose wire...
Is it a problem with my hardware? It happens both with my on-board sound card and my USB Headset...
This video will show you what I mean:
http://www.wlproduct...1_58_39_819.mp4

The sound you hear is not the result of a bad recording. This is what it sounds like in game, all the time, for me.

Does anybody else have the same problem?
