The second hero 'mech seems like it will be capable of toting 3 gauss rifles around with 4-5 tons of ammo. While a huge gauss boat fan, I can't help but be surprised that PGI would make the option possible in such a way, introducing it as a paid-only option.

Comments, thoughts?

When you figure out that you can't actually make this happen....then you can come back down to reality...

With 3 Gauss, you are limping around at 23.1 kph (if they let you go down to STD 100 engine, and you can only carry maximum 3 tons of ammo....oh and you're ~4.5 tons underarmored...

Have fun being a statue that's made out of paper mache in a game where armor is king.

Speculation at best. It's hard to know the crit slots without having seen the mech first.

You could argue the 4X is capable of 3+ gauss rifles no?

3 GR on a 70 ton mech is going to be more a liability than an advantage. So like YLW, the second hero will also be a P2L mech.

4x AC5s, 2x Ultra/5 plus 2x AC2, and 4xAC2 already put out a very similar level of damage at a similar range.

Are there dual gauss K2s with ten tons to spare? The CTF has 5 additional tons compared to the CPLT, but a 3rd gauss rifle will require a further 10 tons as compared to a 65 ton mech with 2 gauss rifles.

There's only enough crit spaces in the arms for one on each if you choose to go that route. But it's not as effective as a gausscat from what people are saying. Either way, you'll be seeing a lot less gaussboating once that nerf comes in...

a look at the image here: http://i.imgur.com/DROgb.png

Shows pretty clearly that there will be 1 ballistic hardpoint each in RA, LA, and RT. There will be enough crit slots and weapon slots for 3 gauss rifles. With a 5.5 ton xl 180, the mech will go 41kph basic and 45kph elited, and there will be enough tonange for 3 gauss rifles.

First off Hard points and stats are known: http://mwomercs.com/...h-ilya-muromets

For those too lazy to click a link:

Quote

Mech: Ilya Muromets CTF-IM Cataphract

Mech Identification Number: CTF2X0042A-1013
Tonnage: 70
Top Speed: 64.8 kph
Armor: 432 points
Weapons: 2 Medium Lasers, 2 AC/5s, 1 AC/10, 1 Small Laser
Hardpoints: 3 Ballistic, 3 Energy, 1 AMS
Jump Jets: n/a

If you can even fit 3x Gauss you would have next to no armor and almost no ammo and move like a beached whale. I wouldn't worry about that.

Myself? I'm planning to see about 3x UAC5 and 3x ML. If the performance of 2x UAC5 and 4x ML on my CTF-3D is any indicator this will be an amazing mech.

3x UAC5 or 3x AC10 are more likely (and frankly better) options for the new hero.

Would be fun, you would have fast mediums and heavies circle strafing it to death.

Next we'll hear from people saying OMG put 3x AC/20's on this mech....hukhuk...

60 damage salvos from 270m is pretty fierce.

At 23.1 kph (and the associated slower turn speeds) a small engine Atlas (~46kph) could circle strafe you and you would never be able to line up a shot with 3x Gauss on him....sad day.

That was sarcasm...AC/20's run heavier and more crit hungry than Gauss Rifles....I thought that much was clear already...

No, 7 tons for structure, 3 tons for cockpit stuffs, so 15 tons for armor, ammo, and engine. :)
