To the OP. I get it - you've been fed information bits, seen & probably reported tons of issues during closed beta. Many of these have been carried over into open beta and some of them have still not been addressed (some of them in fact have been looked into & mentioned recently)

Still - is this patch and the direction where the game is moving so bad as you make it sound? To me it just sounds like pure bitterness instead of acknowledging that things are progressing in the right direction, albeit slowly and behind schedule. Maybe take a break from playing and come back to see it with a less jaded and hyperbolic view, sometimes this helps.

What the heck are you talking about? What direction?

All they've done is add more mechs, pay to win mechs, eye candy and items. I have not seen reference to, work upon, or fixes of the issues that are killing the functionality of the game for the last 2 months. CTD..Memory leak...the list goes on and it gets worse every patch.

I don't see progress. I see buildup towards a very buggy release and they seem to be planning FOR a buggy release but trying to make quick cash in the opening of it for... whatever reason it is.

I'll say it again: Color blind HUD color support has been asked for ..forever... and not been done. Yet there was time to add camo and color schemes... what does that tell you about their priorities?

This patch was pretty good - real content, and something that freshens the game up.

Of course, haters gotta hate.

Right?

Admittedly the paint stuff should have been in on day one of Open Beta, but turning the time of day slider to "night" and removing the ugly fog filters on a single map does not count as "new content". [something you can do in about 2 mins btw, not 2 months].

The paintjobs don't do enought to freshen the game up, and none of the substantial bugs or performance issues have been fixed, the only thing on the horizon that could really make the game fresh is 8 v 8 group drops.

They need to fix the economy first THEN punish afk/suicides if people are still doing it afterwards.

Regarding everything else you said, yes, serious issues haven't been touched at all. You regularly get black plague screen of doom(Ya, I said it. It "happened" again Stickjock), along with DCs to desktop and FPS issue.(That what you meant with memory leak?) None of this has been addressed yet nor did they say if they were even looking into them. The game drops you to the desktop or black screens regularly. No idea why. Just fix it!

I'm happy with the patch.

This game is in Beta still. It's going to get tons of more patches and tons of more updates. "Useless" gadgets or not, they're keeping players like us excited to keep playing, while still working out the bugs.

We're getting new patches all the time. Patience is key.

Sure, I'd love to see some problems fixed still. Matchmaking isn't perfect, nor is loading screens for a lot of players, including myself. Despite all of that, I think the dev's are doing an astounding job. Patience!

It's hard to be patient when we've had the same memory leak and mechlab bugs for a whole month with no word on if fixes are ever coming.

I keep seeing everyone talk about a memory leak... how do we even know there is a memory leak?
memory usage for the MWO client stays steady on my PC and my free/used memory also stays steady...

Should have been like this from day one? Games don't always work that way though.

All we know, the dev's are having a hard time fixing the problems. If "turning the time of day slider" keeps us playing while they sort out all of the glitches, then all of the power to them.

This might sound like an odd question but, what exactly did they patch in that made the game better and why does it make the game better?

Of course it's coming. They're not just going to let the problem sit there for the rest of the game's life.

You misunderstand me,

They went open beta with hardly nothing to even buy with real world currency, they should at least have waited until the cash only skins and cosmetic items were in game to go OB, going Open, where money is spent for real, without anything to buy except a awful MC only mech, mechbays, and premium time was a horrible decision that I'm sure has cost them a good deal of money.

Exactly. The Mechlab even likes to freeze sometimes now when you try to save changes. This forces you to exit the game, relaunch it, log back in, then do the changes again because it didn't even save them when it froze. I don't care much about your fancy new ECM. I care about the memory leak and blackscreen which is preventing me from playing at all when they occur!

The game is also plagued with many game breaking issues they should have tried to resolve first. Unless this Open Beta lasts for a long time; it was launched very prematurely.

Just to confirm the memory leak is still happening. Tested it out on purpose tonight rather than doing my usual restart client after 10 matches routine - I suppose the fact that I didn't CTD before it happened this time was a nice change of pace.

Well, there's no way in hell any of my friends would put up with a month of crashing mechlabs, CTDs and memory leaks. Even if they could stand the trial mech grind. If they want to expand their player base past masochistic battletech fans they need to make their game...less broken. Is the plan still to fix nothing until DX11?

Oh is that their excuse now, that everything will magically be better when DX11 is introduced [which we should have had on October 2nd btw]

I remember when they said the exact same thing about how Cryengine 3.4 would fix all of our performance problems, instead they have, if anything, got worse after the engine update.

I wonder what the new excuse will be once DX11 support is added and it fails to fix all that ails MWO, performance wise.

Perhaps Magical Gremlins that mischievously introduce new bugs in the engine will be blamed, or maybe they'll just call us whiny entitled children and pretend there are no problems while deleting threads pointing out legitimate concerns.

I like the patch

The game is still really fun for me.

Now I need to save up for an Atlas D-DC for ECM

I will say that as far as MWO patches go - content wise - this one is actually a nice step forward for the game. If we got something like this every 2 weeks rather than months of stagnation I'd only have the persistent bugs to complain about (did you know that leaderless group thing has been in as long as groups have existed?). Here's hoping that getting OB out the door was their big hurdle and further content stays on track.

-Full screen window mode neiher fixed nor listed as a known issue

-Mechlab crashing neither fixed, at least listed as a known issue

-Gold HUDs neither fixed, nor listed as a known issue

-Memory leak not mentioned at all, whether it is fixed or not is up for anyone to guess

-No noticeable changes at all, just minor ones like p2camo and voice

-Most games are still completely lopsided and end in 8-0 for one team

-PGI seems to have forgotten about phase 2 matchmaking which we were supposed to get, like, a month ago (i remember all the people insisting we would DEFINATELY get it 2 weeks after phase 1, where are those people now?)

-Weapon balance is still non-existent, only way to suceed is to boat lasers, streaks or gauss, unless you are using quad AC5s in a CTF-4X

-Premium time stopping means grinding 20 games for 1 mill after repairs (without XLs or FF)

-No suicide farmers banned yet, despite dozens of reports filed (they are still bragging about it on another site)

-AFKers every match

-Uneven teams 50% of the time

Prediction : Someone pulls the "It's a beta!" card within 5 posts.

Game development pace : somewhere between a glacier and the titanic.

true 4chan is all about the suicide bragging

How Mu, how are you still optimistic about this game?

I remember that feel you know, but this game, this community, and these forums have ground all the faith I had out of me gradually, painfully wrenching every last drip from my being.

Now I am a bitter husk of a man who is probably suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

@OP

Whingers of the world unite.

I hope no one at PGI reads these posts

Can you imagine how demotivational and oppressive the environment would be if they all did.

That could account for the differences in what the whingers want addressed and what PGI is addressing. The are just ignoring all the rude abusive people. I don't blame them. No Company WANTS customers like that.

If you want a better game, change your tone and make constructive and polite suggestions

If you just want to drag the developers down, act like a whinely little girl, or better yet, ****** off somewhere else.

Getting sick of all the bad manners people.

Don't confuse that with optimism, I'm just comparing it to the last few patches. And considering how little changed over my 2 month break, the ones before that must have been pretty anemic too.
