Im fine with them giving jenners ECM but only after they Fix em. Once they get hit like every other mech and once they fall its fine.

Just pack on the SSRMs. As a Jenner pilot, I can tell you that those always hit and they always hit Center Torso... again... like they used to. :D

I get killed by Commando 2D's all the the time now.

I suspect with the addition of ECM to those little buggers, a lot more people will learn that Commando 2D's are where it's at and they'll be swarming in them. Yes, a 2D can pack 3 SSRM2's, 2 tons of ammo, and ECM. :D Put that in your bowl of cereal and munch on it for a while.

Jenner NOT getting ECM......PGI did realize it would completely marginalize the Raven entirely.

People who've played the Mechcommander series know exactly what the Raven's function is - as compared to other lights. The Raven pilot needs a very different mindset from that of the hunter-scout Jenner pilot whose primary roles is to kill other lights & neutralize/cripple vulnerable heavies and assaults.

The Raven's job is to bring a mech lance safely through hostile territory using the blanket of ECM, this is why the stock top speed is 97.2kph. MWO's ECM functionality makes this classic mech the electronic protector & guardian of his companions - it's the way it's meant to be and it's good thing that unique role was preserved by having ECM was taken away from the Jenner.

Neither the Commando (limited payload) or the Cicada (no missile hardpoints) can replace the Raven but the Jenner w/ECM would have made it useless.

Not just this, but if I drop down to an XL270 engine, I can still run three MLAS, an SRM2, an LRM10, and the ECM. Meaning that I have a missile boat guard dog that makes them invisible. And, fully upgraded, is still running at 136KPH. So it can be one mean bird in that role, and having the ECM helps encourages that type of play.

All of this is correct. If the Jenner gets ECM, Raven will have no purpose. The Jenner also wasn't specifically designed for sensors and scouting... the Raven was. You'd think the Raven would be better at it. The Jenner was built for light combat, able to effectively destroy turrets/tanks and any Mech threat below a Medium. The Raven was built for scouting and sensors, able to run recons or be the spotter with advanced electronics. I loved the Raven in MC1 due to its electronics, which you couldn't put in other Inner Sphere Mechs.(If you wanted to be one of the cool kids, you'd use a Light Clan Mech instead, but staying fully Inner Sphere Tech was fun too)

again as per the command couch Jenners will NOT get ECM.. I repeat Jenners will not get ECM.

As fun as it would have been, i support that change.

But dang it would have been fun.

But we still have the, "And suddenly...ATLAS!" I kinda wish I had a D-DC to use as a 100 ton ninja.

Well having it on a atlas make the rest of the group move at snails pace and make then fairly easy to visually spot. So it is ok in my mind and the atlas was fitted as a command vehicle fairly often

I can see why people don´t want to have the Jenner D access to ECM. He is the ultimate badass from the Jenner line (as long as SSRM work their little wonders). So scratchig that variant from the list is good. But the other side of the coin is: The only light mech not having a ECM variant is now the Jenner. Saying "he is more a guerillia fighter and not a scout so he don´t deserve ECM" is plain stupid if an Atlas (Steiner scout lance or what?) runs along with ECM.
Pointing out that the Jenner could steal the thunder from the Raven because his lore makes him the "only true" scout with ECM/BAP...yeah you people know that construction rules with the tabletop or the mechlab in this game should allow to build my favourite mech for my prefered playstyle? So what if I want a Jenner with BAP/ECM and not a Raven? What difference will it make on the battlefield if it is a Raven or a Jenner with that? Its like choosing a Cat K2 or a Cataphract for Gauss sniping. But between them heavies would be at least a five ton difference. With two 35t lights its only a choice between the favourite chasis and the possible different weapon hardpoints. And as last argument: Jenner with ECM is bad because he outshines the Raven but the 40t Cicada is fine?

I would suggest that the Jenner K gets access to ECM. He is already the unloved ******* variant that mostly is used for Elite/Master unlock and then never touched again. ECM would give him some purpose for the next months (until his more module slots *could* be used).

Damnit, can anyone post a source to the verification that jenners arent getting ECM? That is an excellent move, finally making the other lights a viable choice, instead of just gimping yourself.

Here you go:

After some discussion within the dev team, we have decided to remove the ECM capability from the Jenner JR7-D. The first post will be edited to reflect this.

We would also like to remind people that the ECM is not all powerful. The rock to its scissors is the TAG laser. If you use it to hit anyone cloaked by an ECM, you and your team will be able to target them. Like any new addition to the game, this just requires a shift in thinking how to equip your Mech and/or team.

Why the Hel are people so afraid of ECM on a Jenner? Seriously? Most of them have to be within short range to do you damage anyway! Limiting the use of ECM BEFORE we even have it in game is the dumbest argument I have ever read! Hel I intend to have 2 ECMs on my ride. One in ECM and one in ECCCM mode. Have you even thought about how useful ECCM mode is to everyone not wanting ECM? How STUPID and narrow minded are you people! By this logic no Mech would have AMS unless it already came with it. Oh and Limit the use of Beagle Probes also. We wouldn't want everyone to have access to this piece of wizardry!!!

Seriously :(

Thank you for sharing your actual opinion Vassago, I still disagree because ECM might give us a reason not to use Jenners and instead use Ravens (ECM is going to be god tier), but I appreciate the reasoning.

not really. Jenners will still be used to hunt and kill ECM ravens, who are slower, weaker and have less firepower. Once the jenner has done its job, the rest can start raining ssrms+lrms.

It should really just be made available on everything like BAP.

Here's another - what if the PPC (which will be able to scramble HUD & other equipment) could disrupt ECM even if temporarily?

Or better yet, give it a chance to pernamently damage the ECM if say the PPC struck the location of the ECM (even with external armor not yet breached)?

Couldn't happen, mechs are giant lightning rods, they'd bock the electrical discharge, but not the emp-like burst

Not speaking in terms of realism, going by possibilities of game balancing.

PPC still needs a boost compared to other weapons. If it could be used as a counter measure against ECM's, then it could better for both equipment.
