So I love the game, no complaints there at all. Just spent 250MC on a dazzle camo scheme for one of my Cats though, which I didn't think was unreasonable.

But then I go to my second Cat to give it a new paint job, and find that I'm expected to pony up another 250MC to apply the same dazzle camo scheme to another mech I own.

Seriously, we're expected to buy the same skin over and over again for every single mech we own? That is something that I do find unreasonable.

I know that devs need to eat and all that, but this just feels greedy and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I really hope they reconsider. In the meantime I won't be buying any more camo schemes.

Anyway, rant over, back to legging atlases with my two AC/20s.

I agree I don't think I could justify spending that much mc and only being able to have that scheme on one of my mechs. I didn't try it but I also asume that if you change the sheme it would have to be rebought to apply it again at a later time. Same with paints. I feel like it is a waste of money for a single one time use thing that would probobly be changed pretty frequently.

The system could definitely use some tweaking. It does seem a little ridiculous to have to buy the same thing multiple times.

Agreed. I'd pay probably upwards of 5 bucks for a camo that I can reuse. Sell me patterns for 5 bucks, and color palettes (like the four woodland colors in one package) for another buck or two, and let me reuse them as much as I want. I will pay for that! But paying for one single paint job once, which I could lose later? Absolutely not.\

I only spend real money on things that are permanent benefits (currently this means only mechbays, and possibly a hero mech if one comes along that catches my eye). I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way.

Totally agree with you guys. Maybe some more basics colors too. Im with HHoD and we dont have the c-bill BLACK for our clan pattern. I understand that is not everyone that want to pay for paint job.

I also totally agree. All camo patterns AND colors should be reuseable once purchased, and not permanently erased every time you change something. The price too seems extremely steep compared to mech bay slots.

For this kind of cost, I would expect to see patterns moveable from one mech to another. (Not so greedy to think it'd apply to more than one mech at time however)

TIP:

Basic colors only cost CB.
PCGamer colors are free.
PCGamer Skin is free and can be recolored.

My personal real-time experience in doing mech schemes.
(Slight advisory: multiple very minor, light-hearted Freudian slips.)

Watching the whole thing is not necessary. However near the end I discovered some free changes for those who own the PC Gamer skin.

Now my opinion...

I can understand that the purpose of the mech skins is essentially to try and get some money without the "OMG this is now pay 2 win you're all horrible, greedy people" fiasco that often happens. That said; I think this idea is very reasonable.

But you may notice during the video that when I stack up colors whether Basic or Premium, that there is a cost per color, a cost per camo scheme (Dazzle, Phranken), and those costs also stack. So let's say I get the Dazzle scheme, then change the colors to 3 premium colors. That's 250 + 250 + 250 + 250. That is up to 1,000 MC for one camo scheme with 3 separate colors on one mech.

I'm not opposed to spending cash. I mean seriously I bought an Elite founder's pack and upgraded to Legendary founder's pack a little while later. I also understand that if we permanently buy each color then this fund-raising method would eventually run itself dry and stop raising funds.

However I think people in general would be a little more eager to spend if it was a flat rate. Camo skin + colors = one price. Not one price for each and every color we change stacked up on top of the scheme we chose which is then stacked on top of every mech we want to paint.

I could understand paying to change the schemes of each mech... But one flat rate for color and scheme changes. Scheme change + premium colors of your choice? 250 MC. Bam, done. Per mech? Little reluctant but you can be sure people will go for it.

I understand there will be more phases to this. More schemes. Some for Cbills, and the more elaborate for MC. Probably more colors for each.

But please put the scheme + colors @ one price. Let's say a basic scheme such as Default + colors for from the basic tree: 312,000 (or so) cbills. Premium scheme + premium color choices: 250 or so MC. Don't stack it to be almost 935,000+ cbills or 1,000 MC. Some of us like myself have over 17 mechs! It'd get real expensive to do my group's colors on every mech that way.

---

An example of this concept can be found in the game Mabinogi by Nexon. With a basic, free character card you can make a character out of a large though limited set of options to include skin tones, eye colors, hair colors, various faces, head-shapes, hair styles, and so on. With a premium character card, which cost x amount of NX (their MC), you are given access to both basic and all of the premium options to choose from to make your one time character. You would need another premium character card to change its appearance again, but when you used it you had access to everything for one price.

A comrade described something similar, but in the concept of packages that you could buy and use. You'd buy the package for a chassis, and have access to the schemes and colors within it for all of the variants for that chassis. You would need to buy another package for a different chassis, but it could be used on all of the variants that you own or will own in the future of that chassis. Even with something like this, it'd mean a certain amount every time a new mech came out.

Even the CBill cost is obnoxious, from where I sit.

Meh, I don't mind my mechs being ugly. Standard paint job it is, until the prices make more sense.

yes you have to spend the 250 MC on every mech you want that skin on. And here is the real kicker. Dont take that dazzle skin off whatever mech you bought it for and put on a new skin because you than lose it and have to buy it all over aging if you want it again. You spend the 250 MC and it is not yours to keep forever LOL

I agree that this needs to be adjusted. Especially if you are spending MC on a skin with the potential of loosing if you buy another. I would like to see packages that include both colors and skins, and would remained unlocked for all version of a mech type.

You cannot freely switch back to Dazzle from anything.
