I was fuddling with my number keys through 6 groups earlier and thought wouldn't it be convenient if I could scroll through my weapon groups with my mouse wheel.

LMB and RMB for groups 1-2 as it is now, and then roll mouse wheel 1 bump down to make LMB and RMB for groups 3-4, and so on.

I think this would make combat feel much more fluid, and keep eyes on screen instead of on making sure you mash 6 instead of 5 or 7. This would also help with people who don't have a multibutton mouse.

I would rather like to zoom in and out with the mousewheel...

I used mousewheel to select my grouping all the time in mw4. bound group 6 to mouse 2 for immidiate missile fire, while I cycled grouping of weapons between the other 5 groups in multiple combos.

Currently I am using 4 buttons to fire off my weapons groups, it works fairly well albeit a bit tedious.

You can do similar to this, and I actually have it set up this way myself right now. It takes some fiddling though since you can't assign the mousewheel ingame. All you need to do is open up your action map in the install directory:

*/Mechwarrior Online/USER/Profiles/<pilot name>/ActionMaps.xml

and then change "HUD_left" and "HUD_right" to match below. This will set your mousewheel up to go from right to left on your list, and mousewheel down to go from left to right, while still leaving the arrow keys bound to those options.

<action name="HUD_left">
<rebind device="keyboard" input="mwheel_up" index="0" defaultInput="left"/>
<rebind device="keyboard" input="left" index="2" defaultInput=""/>
</action>
<action name="HUD_right">
<rebind device="keyboard" input="mwheel_down" index="0" defaultInput="right"/>
<rebind device="keyboard" input="right" index="2" defaultInput=""/>
</action>

In my setup, I have "Fire selected group" set to LMB and Alpha Strike to RMB, and I just scroll to the selected weapons I want to use.

This suggestion can be made more general: just add the "mwheel_up" and "mwheel_down" options for the in-game configuration menu.

So that we can assign "Mouse Wheel Up" and "Mouse Wheel Down" to whatever we want (be it zoom, weapon grouping, throttle, whatever). The more customization we can do, the more happy faces you´ll see around here :P

While you are at it, just put any and all possible game commands in the option menu. We still can´t reassign the "Chain Fire Mode" out of backspace... (this freaking key is the only reason I still keep my keyboard handy while I play this game).

I actually agree on that. They need to let you assign the Mwheel to whatever you like.
