The overly greedy (IMO) current approach won't necessarily lead to more money for PGI. I expect there will be many like me who won't spend a single cent on the current cosmetics because they just aren't worth it. I would be willing to pay for "unlocking" paint colours and schemes, I would probably buy quite a few in fact so that I would be able to change colors and patterns frequently on all of my mechs. If they want to charge c-bills for each reskin to another owned skin/colour combo, that would be fine as well. I would probably spend at least $10 to get a (small) nice selection and could be tempted to spend more when new patterns and mechs are added. This would also allow those who like to "collect them all" to spend more money and own all colours and camos if they wanted. As it is the only way to collect customization options would be to own enough mechs top apply them all at once.

By overpricing these items PGI will get $0 for something I'd be willing to pay $10+ for if it was more reasonably (again IMO) implemented.

They should look at TF2 for inspiration. There are collectors spending a lot of real money on basically fluff items for that game, but that would not be the case if they lost thier fancy hat every time they wanted to wear a different one for a while.

50 cents per color and 2 dollars per skin is greedy?

The only hangup in their pricing is the forced rebuy to make changes, instead of keeping your product.

I think that's kind of exactly what he said in the quote. If he thought the current pricing was greedy he'd be out of his mind to quote the figure $10. :(

Well, how low should they go? Saying I'd be willing to spend 10 dollars has no meaning if you don't quantify what you want for that 10 dollars.

I want to pay 10 dollars for every 'Mech in the game! Not going to happen, but I'd like it too.

Value wise I think $10 should be enough to buy you 2 patterns and maybe 4 colour choices for every mech in the game. This would make for some pretty basic customization choices rather than being stuck at default.

Think of it this way, full games that cost way more to develop than this one only cost $60 (note my founder status so I already invested $60 in the game). Why would a small amount of easy to develop cosmetic content be worth more than 1/6th of that? I know they need to make money, but gouging customers for cosmetics isn't a good way to do it.

Back to the top. Please, please let me spend money on your game. I really want to, but I'm not going to pay over and over for the exact same thing.

The problem isn't the price. The price is kinda fair in my opinion, I even bought the Phreaken Patern with some colors. I was happy, my Mech looked awesome.

My happiness went away when I've read that what I thought to be unlocked, was in fact Rented... Then I got pissed... and swore to myself that I wont spend any more MC on Paterns or Color as long as the system will be as it is. No problem with the C-Bill colors, but no way that I'll be paying real money for paint or paterns I've already bought (Unlocked)...

But I'm still: "Hey it's Phase 1 of the Camo implementation, let's see what they will bring in the next phases".

Yep. I'm like probably only going to purchase one camo for my most used 'Mechs...ever...with this system.

I also hate that there is no way to try a camo pattern out before you buy it.

Until I keep the goods I spend money on, I'm planning to be very thrifty with my MC.

Thats how most players are thinking right now.

Given how the game is still in Beta stage, it's a good way to think for now.

While companies like profits in general, they also don't like to have irate customers. If ever in doubt whether or not to spend - don't: PGI would rather you not spend money at one point, rather than you spend it, regret it, and decide never to spend ever again.

Can't drag out the quote already since it was months ago, but I recall one of the devs saying something to this effect early on when Founders' was announced, and it was the first time people could spend money on the game.

Yea I completely agree. I remember reading that post too but I think it's either deleted or locked away in the old beta section. *shrugs*

Pay per pattern, pay per color, but once you have bought it, ought to be permanent. Make it 500mc for a pattern and 250 per color. You could even limit the amount of times you can use the color, one pot of paint color can paint 3 mechs or something.

I believe That's a little to pricey though...

Buy Palettes for MC. Buy patterns for MC. Then with Patterns and Palettes in hand, one only pays a small C-Bill sum to mix the Colors with different Patterns. How many Patterns and Palettes are required before one has an infinite mix combination? Not that many...

For Decals etc. pay MC once to own per Decal, and are useable on ALL Mechs owned... :)

I'm not buying any of this until they give an option to buy colors permanently.
