This info isn't anything new or surprising, but I have had uncanny success with this build! Piloting nothing but Commandos since I started, this builds (and similar ones to it for the other variants) have let me consistently put down anywhere from 150 to 700 damage a round and achieve a KDR over 1. But like all things, it is just a build and knowing how to pilot your mech goes a long way.

-This build works out across ALL commando variants by replacing an SSRM with a ML. It will even leave you with .5 tons extra.
-Without DHS, you can use SHS for something still pretty heat efficient. ~1.25 I think.
-Armor Layout can be adjusted to individual play styles.

Now, with taking the time to Elite out the Commando Mechs, this thing can run up to 146.3 KPH which is plenty fast to run away from most mechs in a hurry, Jenners of course being the exception. And since it is a commando it gets the benefit of it's smaller hit box.

The armor is balanced because of how I use this mech. A lot of hit and run tactics. Scanning targets for weaker ones or going to chase a light that is harassing one of my teams bigger Mechs. This means that potentially, 50% of the time I am running into a dangerous area and then 50% of the time I am running out of one.

As many people have pointed out, the Commando is fragile! AVOID DEATH CIRCLES! Even if you live after one of these, more then likely you are going to be damaged to the point that a snowflake could end you. And as always, use cover to avoid LRM barrages and weave when running away from enemy fire. People have a hard time aiming at small targets, make it a little bit more difficult for them.

All in all, I greatly enjoy this build and have had many a good fight. I hope this helps. Also, feel free to add me as a friend. MWO name is Erwin R0mmel.

In light of the ECM add on, I though I would do a small update to this build. The changes being that I dropped the Medium Laser and C.A.S.E. to fit the E.C.M. A few friends and I can create a three man COM-2D team and deal out some serious damage usually ending in the top three of our team.

COM-2D Trollmando

This is the commando build that used to be an assassin/ninja. Caught alone from your team? Let me introduce you to my little friend.
Used to be able to get 2-3 kills a match 500+ dmg was pretty common.
Not so much anymore though...
This is easy mode so be prepared to catch doodoo for it.

I downsize to an XL 200 and get rid of the CASE to bring back the ECM. Works like a charm. I average about 350 damage per game and usually get 1 or 2 kills, many times 3 or 4. Works even better in a light lance!

Since no one here has told you yet, let me be the first to let you now that C.A.S.E. does nothing to protect your XL engine from ammo explosions. It only stops damage from transfering to the CT from a side torso thus only helping standard engine equipped mechs. Also since you have no weapons in the left arm decrease its armor to zero. Yes you will be undertonned but it will act as a dummy arm and enemies wil shoot it to get a componenet destruction, thus saving the rest of your mech from some damage. Cant tell you how many times that little trick has saved me from being legged qucker ETC. Remember trickery is a comando pilots best friend.

Also ammo is very safe in your head move 1 ton of ammo to your head.

Er guys... The OP is from December 2012. The build with CASE was pre-ECM.
Blacklp posted the cookie-cutter build a year ago, in March 2013.
