After playing WOT again after a 9 month break, something occurred to me. Many of the maps felt rather stale as each side only had a few viable routes that must be taken/defended, if fact, you could look at the starting line-up and pretty well guess where everyone would go based on what kind of tank they were in.
So instead of each side having a permanent base, how about there be multiple places to start that would be determined randomly at the beginning of each match? For example-- Ice Map A has 8 possible drop zones/bases, two on each side (N,S,E,W) of the map. Red team might start at South side 1, while Blue team might start at East side 2. The thing is, until you run into the enemy you have no idea where they would be starting from, so each map would end up playing differently.
Positives would include an increased role for scouts, since you have a much wider area to search, and a longer time before a map would start feeling "old". It would also add various tactics like sending some of your faster mechs out to mislead the enemy towards the wrong base, and it might turn some places from perfect spot (if the enemy starts in one area) to totally deathtrap (if the come from a different direction).
The only con I can think of is that it's probably a bit late to be adding this option.

I would be ok with this if the friendly base location was always close to the start location to prevent issues like that 1 WoT map where it sometimes works to have the entire team rush the enemy base and cap before the other team figures out what is happening. I can't remember the name of it but it's the 1 with the island in the center that needs a heavy to break the barrier and teams start about halfway between their base and enemy base.
I agree it's probably something that wouldn't show at launch but would certainly make fights more interesting with dynamic base/drop point placement. A good idea for future map variation anyway.

I had it in my head that each of the start zones would have a base/capture point, but only the two the players started at would be "active", shown with some kind of flag/equipment/etc.
