So, being a college student and parttime soldier, I needed another job to make ends meet. So I got a night job that involves much sitting about, so I decided to break out the old pen and paper and loosen up my wrist and fingers and get back to drawing, something I did for money on the side, I used to be a cartoonist and an illustrator for the local newspaper who also made calendars.

I don't consider myself talented by any means, I do it purely for the joy and some people just happen to want to buy some of it.

So for starters:

My take on the MAD-3R "Marauder", I changed the legs because the original legs just looked stupid.
Posted Image

My take on the original RFL-3N, only using quad AC/2s instead.

MW:O'ed HMH-3D "Hammerhands", it's my 3rd favorite IS mech after the AWS-8Q and WHM-6R. I attempted to make it's look more along the lines of the industrialized mechs from MWO, but I feel like it flopped bad. The only part I like is the head, chest, SRM launcher, and thighs.

I love drawing stylised art and decided to draw some "nose art" and show off an old movie I loved, my unit patch, and my name with a stylised AS7-D head.

I recently came up with this idea after piloting my AWS-9M and have a Commando and two Jenners right straight into me nearly simultaneously, prevented me from shooting them or moving away as I was pinned from 3 directions. I proclaimed over comms to our scouts, "I got three leghumpers on me, can I get some help in D5?" and the name stuck in our team for scouts abusing the lack of collisions, so I decided to draw a cartoon on it.

"Leghumpers, Inc."

Thoughts?

These are decidedly excellent, somehow adding character to mechs without making them seem too goofy (well, maybe the last one is an exception heh). Love to see more!

Those are all fabulous, please continue to draw when you have spare moments!

I think my favorite is the Hammerhands, I would pilot that in MW:O in a second.

LOL at leghumpers. I'm totally using that until they put knockdowns back in.

P.S. I logged in specifically to comment on your post. Keep it up. :(

Hah, entertaining! Good work, mate, a little more refinining and it'll be even better so keep doing what you're doing- I enjoy it. The MAD-3R looks heavily inspired by Shimmering Sword's. Not a bad thing, if it is, but try and use the picture as more of a reference for certain shapes and blend it with your own style; I'd be interested to see what you'd produce if you moved a little more away from it, and blended it a bit more with the original. If not, then you have an excellent eye for redesigning, heh. Would be cool to see a bigger even more detailed version of your MAD anyway. :(

I based the upper body on one I found on google, heavily, It didn't state the original author sadly, because it was excellent. The legs are dual jointed on mine. I was looking at doing another one with more detail now that I feel I'm back in the swing of things.

Can you post a link to Shimmering Swords? If he's the mastermind behind the one I used for inspiration I'd like to credit him.

I have a feeling you'll like his stuff, he does a lot of really detailed and nice BT stuff. He has two MADs that I know of, so instead of a direct link, I'll just post the link to his gallery in DeviantArt, and let you explore- should be a nice view of some seriously well done BT art

Loved the leg humper very funny.

You gave the centurion a slimmer look that it needed.

Thanks

I love their design of the Cent, I just didn't think it should have been that wide.

It appears I have broken my links...

Anyways. New pics.

First up is a repost of my CN9-A because I'm too lazy to go through and find it's original post to fix it. And it kinda has the same style as the the next two.

Next up is an AWS-8Q

Posted Image

And lastly, I decided to draw a Victor because he get the Highlander instead.

I expect the Leg Humper to be released as an official artwork.

It's way too adorable.

Damn, that is one GOOD-LOOKING Victor. I've been sketching up concepts for one of my own, but haven't had anything that really sticks. Mind if I use yours as a reference, to get my concepts where I'd like them to be going?

I'd like to see someone with good digital art skills make a GIF.

That victor is pretty damned sweet. Honestly reminds me of some of the mobile suits from Gundam without straying too far from battletech.

Alright, new drawing.

It's a redone MAD-3R. This b*tch went through 12 iterations before I settled on this one. I used many different influences throughout using the original unseen, re-imaginings from Shimmering Sword, etc... I threw it all away and went back to the Reseen version (which I preferred anyways) and always thought the Marauder looked like a bird of prey with it's hunched look. So I started to draw the original shape of the Reseen, then took the angular and aggressive looks of the AH-64, F-22, and RAH-66 and basically reskinned it.

It's looking like this style is becoming a mini series. Except I'm out of mechs I want to draw...
