This is one of the most game breaking aspects of the game, the other beging the jurassic netcode. However, matchmaking is much easier to fix than netcode, and still the devs are as quick as snails to fix the issue. Seriously, betty, camo, new hero mech? This isnt what we need at the moment. Its like "hey our ship is skinking, let's mop the floor."
Devs, its simple, pugs vs pugs and premades vs premades. Stop working on useless content. The netcode is already so bad this game feels like quake 3 on dial up modem. At least give us the option of how we want to play.

its not really separating them. any group that is not 8 (so 2-4) will still be fighting in the pug queue. I think you'll still see a lot of 4 man pubstomp all stars because 8 is a lot of people sometimes.

A lot of the 4s will move to full teams of 8. not everyone, and not all the time, but it will be less of a burden on the lone wolves who do not wish to play as a team.

yes it can only have a positive effect, so that's good.

There are people building that other stuff who do not work on netcode or matchmaking. The people working on netcode or matchmaking aren't working on other stuff. So what you are asking for is for all the other teams to stop working until the guys working on matchmaking and netcode have perfected their parts of the whole.

Which would not make any kind of sense..

Why is this even a priority anyway, even the return of 8 man groups, because as soon as they incorporate VOIP, lobbies, houses, merc-corp and community warfare into the game itself, this entire discussion becomes a moot point. Teamspeak premades are only a paceholder anyway.

Pugs will never beat a good pre-made. Wait until ECM goes live...pug players will be ***** with impunity.

No, next patch 4 man groups will still be able to pugstomp, groups that want to stomp will stay 4man, groups that want to fight other groups will go 8man.

Because the game is boring and the only way to keep it interesting is to play with your friends. PGI, and probably Paul specifically, took their dislike of bronies to 11 and nerfed friendship. Nobody likes having their fun being dictated by some bot, afk'er, suicide farmer, griefer, or just some doofus that is terrible at games. Anyone of those things can ruin what little fun this game is right now, and if you frustrate people enough they will stop logging in because they know they will just get frustrated. Not to mention that all those features you mentioned are probably still in prototype mode and won't be in game for at least another 4-6 months AT BEST.

Your not fighting a full pre-made and you have a chance to have them on your team.

Just like AFKer's and suiciders. So in a way things are still balanced.

that's quite a bit of stuff. i agree once we are at that point then there's so much going on that its all good, but right now I am concerned that being pugstomped over and over will turn away new players. 4 people on voice literally is worth 6-8 pugs, not even accounting for whatever else is on their team. it's not close to being fair. we're moving in the right direction on this, but we are also at the critical early stage of the game (and year) where a lot of people will be trying it out for the first time, so i think its important to work on matchmaker and not just say oh well when CW comes out we'll all have premades on our side anyway.

as far as phase 2 goes, it is more for the 8 mans than the pugs. I suspect that *most* premades are just 4 or less friends playing together or 4 people who hopped on TS for a random group. to these people it makes no difference since they aren't going to 8 man anyway.

Yeah in a really morbid and idiotic way. This game is designed around team work but PGI has made it as hard as possible to work as a team. They should just make it hardcore mode and remove chat and make everyone use the battle map.

What I find most funny about this is that if they hunted out all the bugs and had perfect netcode, thus you never experienced it... most of the forums would be yelling, "Y U no have content!" "Want new map naow!" It's a balancing act people.

Folks who do not wish to play as a team are essentially detriments to their team.

Even going up against teams where the other side is entirely randoms, those "lone wolves" are likely going to get facerolled anyway, because they lack certain fundamental skills and coordination.

I can live without the 8 man groups for the minute, and I obviously don’t want to wait for full implementation of all the features I listed for them to return. But my post wasn't meant for us premies, it's the PUG's need to get their head around the fact that they are the anomaly that is being catered for, not us.

Always going to be someone complaining about something. Everyone just needs to have some patience, one would expect that PGI have no interest in killing their own game.

not if they're playing against others of their ilk. then it will just be a disorganized random game where both sides are equally bad. i figure this is what the low of the rating system will look like once they get that going. i want these players in the game because more players = more money but you're right, i don't necessarily want to play WITH them. nor them with me!

Even before things went to 4 man wasn't it confirmed that the vast majority of games are actually pug on pug? I swear a Dev had a post about it but I am having trouble finding it.

Ultimately we will find out if that's the case once the groups get separated. Still I could have swore there was an official post about it.
