Instead of banning these people, there is another option.

Simply reclassify them as suiciders. Secretly, so they don't know they've been classified as such.

Then revise the matchmaker so that suiciders are just placed in matches with other suiciders, and never in matches with non-suiciders.

Since they're just suiciding for money, they won't notice at first. They'll continue doing it all day and all night.

But the real value here comes when they go to their next phase of trying to play the game with all their ill-gotten goods, because at some point the suiciding stops so you can enjoy all the stuff you've accumulated.

They'll be stuck in games with tons of suiciders, forever left to suffer the game environment that they tried to inflict on others. As more people join and start suicide grinding, the problem will never go away for them. Have fun guys.

Ah well, probably not feasible and a waste of server space. But I can dream.

Sounds fair.
Maintaining a server only for people to grind for c-bills through a broken system.

As creative a solution that may be it doesn't address the underling problem, people suiciding in trial mechs. If new players are given an entry level mech to keep and they have to pay the repair bills for that mech right off the bat, the net cbills after repairs would be small and the amount of time that would be needed to collect a significant amount of cbills from suicide farming would be deter most of them from doing it.

Good idea. I don't think it's necessary to implement it though. Be patient. When ELO matchmaking is implemented in December/January this will happen automatically. People who suicide will end up with very low ranks due to their terrible performance, and they will be stuck playing with others who have made the same mistake.

Ask any League of Legends player about leavers and ELO Hell in ranked play. It's a natural byproduct of the ELO system.

You don't even need to revise the matchmaker for it.

They want to have a skill/combat score based system in the end (already planned), and theres no way that suiciders will end up in anything but the lowest bracket. That should match them with/against other suiciders and, well, people who could benefit from some free kills. Basically, they will still be there, and still provide fuel for account sellers, but they won't impact the games of any serious players.

Would be funny to see forum posts like: Game is broken, every time I play everyone is suiciding!

Exactly! (scroll up two posts and you'll see that I posted the same thing, so I naturally agree)

This idea has one even better implication that you've apparently overlooked. Who will want to buy an account that's stuck in that 'lowest bracket'? I hope that the answer is no one. Therefore, this will also curtail C-bill farming and real-world selling of accounts.

This is a viable idea; however, more elegantly, to quell undesired behavior, I would suggest simply removing its reward.

Just lock people out of starting a new match until the last match finishes. Problem solved.

Nonetheless, the OP's idea is evil. Therefore, I approve.

I'd love to be in that MM though. I'd get easy wins once all my enemies suicide. All I'd have to do is walk over to the enemy base is shoot AFKs. Your suggestion isn't a solution at all, lol. By the time I worked my way out of the hole; I'd be drowned in money.

Then you prevent all legitimate players from playing as well. What they actually need to do is remove the rewards from players that do nothing to help in a match.

Yep, 3 minute difference is what it took to compose my message (didn't see yours till after I posted)

Personally, I would never want to buy an account regardless of its status, but I also don't think the people that would buy one see that as a con. You are going to get a better K:D/W:L naturally from playing against suiciders, and you will be able to get yourself out of the low bracket -- some people really want that experience I think :\

I also remember hearing something in WoT or LoL about people trashing their bracket intentionally so they can grief people. The exact reason I can't recall ATM, perhaps I blocked it out to preserve some faith in people.

Exactly.

I'm so sick of all of this kindergarten, rewards through participation bull.

If you want rewards, do something to earn them

Love it. Suggested something like this on some post before and stand behind it. Farmers go play Farming simulator!
