According to Sarna, the rights to the Reseen are still held by the original owners, and licensed to Catalyst. That may or may not have translated to PGI to use in MWO. But even if it did, IMHO it'd be risky for them to use them. Why? Licenses to use someone else's IP are almost always for a set duration. World of Tanks has been a HUUUGE hit, and MWO is going to be in the same vein, with a very solid IP behind it. If it does even half as well, that's some serious cash. What do you suppose would happen when it was time to renegotiate the license? Game's doing great, making good money, and the owner wants a bucket of cash to renew the license... and they've got PGI over a barrel, because we all know that gamers are the most calm, reasoned people about having in-game stuff taken away from them, right?
That's largely speculation, but it's at least informed speculation. As sad as it is to say, I don't think it's a risk I would take if I were in charge of the project.
good post,I rather not have any risky mechs ( ones not 100% owned by piranha ),it means we get other ones but nobody will take them away

For assault mechs, I want the Pillager. However, I also like the Highlander, the Thug, and the Devastator. Zeus and Victor would also be acceptable.

For heavy, I'd want to see Jagermech, Guillotine, or Thunderbolt.
For assault mechs, Stalker, Mauler, and Longbow

For assaults, I would like to see the Victor as a counterpoint to the Awesome and Atlas' brute force approach, though since its an 80 tonner like the Awesome we will probably see an 85, 90, or 95 ton unit. So then either Stalker, Cyclops, or the Banshee. I would love the Banshee just to create the 3S version, which has the speed of an Atlas (yah slow) but mounts an AC/10, 2 PPC's, an SRM 6 pack, 4 medium lasers, and 2 small lasers. Then it only gets better with recovered tech in 3050. The King Crab and Highlander would be Comstar rides, So its definetely one of the four classic assault Mech designs (though a Battlemaster popping up would be great.)
Heck if were brining in Pillagers and Devastators, then give me my Enforcer and Jagermech III's . Its designs like these that make me hope that occasionally time will 'skip' a little so that we don't have to wait a couple years to see them.

That leaves us with: Grasshopper, Black Knight, Orion, Flashman, Cataphract or Guillotine iirc.
I could go with any of those. but Orion would really make me happy

Realistically speaking, for an assault slot I would expect the Victor as it is quite a 'famous' mech in the 3049 time period with Victor Steiner-Davion piloting one during the clan invasion (1 year down the road, can't wait). A rifleman/jagermech does sound like a good contendor for a heavy slot next to the assault slot.

Lights: 3
Mediums: 3
Heavies: 2
Assaults: 2
We have FOUR Lights with concept art: Cicada, Raven, Jenner, Commando.
We have ONE Medium with concept art: Centurion.
We have TWO Heavies with concept art: Catapult and Dragon.
We have TWO Assaults with concept art: Awesome and Atlas.
I know I'm missing something, which is: where are you guys getting these numbers? Where are the devs getting these numbers? And which are the 'Mechs that are announced that I'm missing, and which Light previously mentioned isn't going to be in the game?

The Cicada is 40 tons, making it a medium 'Mech - not a light 'Mech. We also have the Hunchback, which is a 50 ton brawler. So there you go.

I'd like to see one or more of the "55 Triplets" as we used to call them... they could all be redesigned easily and come out looking nice.
ShadowHawk
Griffin
Wolverine
If they go Heavy, there's another unseen that would be easily re-designable... the Thunderbolt.

(I also know the modifications that I'd do in the 'MechLab straight off as a bonus)
