Do we really need another one of these threads? There is one with a nearly identical title that has been around for a long while and yet it is posted in constantly.

Hey guys, please don't forget. Unseen mechs won't be seen here. Hammerhands however, although it was a design that influenced an Unseen mech, is not Unseen itself. This mech is a great mech in the fact that its autocannons generate less heat than the Warhammer, and it has jump jets for some mobility. You guys can't tell me you disapprove of that. :)

Devs have shown they can redesign mechs to look cooler than originals (Raven)
So unseen/reseen should be done same way

For orion lovers, this mech will need major redesign too to fit into this HD engine

Wait a couple of years then, because some of them are Clan mech's, so won't show up for a time, and some of them, like the Uziel is a 3060's desings - it's simply won't exits yet. :)

Note:
In the game the, currently is 3049 may 16.
And we are playing as Inner Sphere mechwarriors, not clanners...

For personal preference, I'd like to see the Cataphract, Devastator, and/or the Zeus. However, The Cata and the Devastator are very rare in this time frame and picking the Zeus still leaves a void in the 90-95 ton range. So logically, the 'Mechs that I'd be just as happy seeing in the game that have a better chance at getting in are:

1) Orion- Good brawler Mech at 75 ton, filling the heavier side of heavy.
2) Highlander- Fills the void of the Mid assault class at 90 tons, and can you say Highlander Burial? Unfortunately, I personally hate the original art of the Highlander, as it reminds me of a giant robotic E.T., not at all intimidating to look at. FD has his work cut out for him to make the Highlander a badass concept while still staying true to the original artwork so people can instantly look at it and say, "Yep, that's a Highlander."

Ignoring the fact that heavies and assaults could use more options, I want the Spider and Wolverine (with a redesign of the Wolverine, of course).

As far as heavies and assaults go, I think the Orion would be a great choice for the heavy class (We have indirect fire support and skirmishing; there should be a straight-up frontline workhorse).
For assaults, I'd love to see either the Cyclops or Battlemaster. Both are known for their usage as command 'Mechs - something we currently lack in any weight class. It would also be nice to see something with a bit more speed than our current assault options (not much faster, sure, but it's still something). Heck, add them both - the Battlemaster has more of a focus on weapons and armor, while the Cyclops could have an absolute boatload of module slots (to make up for its relatively pitiful... everything else).

The vox populi (including myself) is calling for the Orion but to be honest, reading it's variants, I don't know if it is that great acquisition to the game... It has the same role of the Zeus (a must have) and it hasn't many real variants...

So my guess goes to the JagerMech as the next heavy.

For the assault class... Stalker, Banshee or Zeus.

Not sure about the Cataphract being so rare due to its production in the CapCon and later in the FedSuns, it just came to my mind as well because of its jumping capability and the laser/autocannon mix (pretty decent allrounder for its weight). The Grashopper is another 70 ton design I would fancy (not to mention some of the Unseen mechs, of course) but I would almost bet that it will be the 75 ton Orion unless the legendary Flashman (same weight class) will be considered by the developers.

The ON-2M is not a bad variant. Gauss Rifle, LRM-15 w/Artemis IV, Medium Pulse Lasers. Decent armor. The thing I like about the orion is it's got a plethora of hard points even in the original layout. LRM, SRM, AutoCannon, Lasers, it's got a wide spread so the hard points allow for a lot of versatility. It should be a fun mech and I really want to see what can be done with it both in mechlab and by FD.

I hope it is the Blackjack. There are no mechs with AC-2s yet. I would prefer the Blackjack to either the DRG-1C or the Jagermech.

also needed

Vindicator
Enforcer
Spider
Victor
Dervish
Whitworth

Best thing you can do is get a job here as a test pilot but you will still have to wait a few years :P ---> Defiance Industries

If they threw the Thug in, that would pretty much cover the Warhammer/Marauder since all three are based on 2 PPCs as the main punch. The SRM 6s could easily be stripped out and replaced with medium lasers or what have you to give you almost the exact load out of the either the Warhammer or Marauder.

Doesn't the Thug weigh a goodly bit more than the Warhammer or Marauder?

If I had to pick -

Heavy: I'd choose the Black Night because we haven't seen any all energy mech's and its my favorite class to fight in :P Besides that it just looks cool as hell.

Assault: Highlander! So far PGI hasn't shown us an assault mech that isn't more or less run of the mill. Would love to see the big boy fly through the air and DFA a mech into the ground, then unload alpha strikes into his near-by buddies.

I wouldn't count too much on an equal number of mechs in each class. If they're smart we should see more designs in the medium category.

I say this because Medium is probably the only class that can have a chassis suitable for any role. A medium can to long range support, close in brawler and any mix in between, all with a wider range of speeds than either heavy or assault (i.e. fast long range, slow short range, average speed blend). Once you get to the big boys your choices narrow down to slow or slower (i'm not even going to talk about the Charger) so you don't need as many mechs to cover all the bases.
