I also support most of this very much. I have no issue with selling the camo scheme on a per mech basis. I think selling dazzle that applies to every mech I own overkill, especially as they add more and more mechs.

Would I buy individual cammo specs for different mech's? Yea I would.
Would I buy a color if I knew I could use it forever? Yea I would.
Would I be silly enough to buy new colors as they came out? "Oooh! I have the shiny red, but they just released a candy apple red. Hells yea!" Yea, that would be me.
If they had individual "skins" for certain mechs. "Circus clown skin for my Fatlas?" I'm dumb enough to spend money on that for the lulz

Buying single applications of paint schemes doesn't entice me to spend money, much less more money. Buying permanent things, aka increasing my artistic palette to choose from, does make me want to come back and spend more money. Plus it has this Pokemon "Gotta buy 'em all" draw.

I know I wouldn't, and I doubt many others would, have a problem with paying ~$5-$10 for a palette, and another ~$5-$10 for a camo pattern... as long as they were permanent.

Also, you should never have to pay MC's to actually paint your mech.

I am an extremist for this cause.

I used to think REAL paint for my miniatures was expensive at like $4 per bottle. A bottle that will last me for 50+ mechs easily.

Yes please! I won't buy any paint in the current non-unlocked system but I guarantee I will spend money on paint/deco I can maintain in my inventory and use again.

I absolutely agree. I want to spend the money to customize my mech, but the restrictions have made me balk at it. Additionally, not being able to customize the founder's mechs beyond the one minor color channel is also a decision that is probably keeping a lot of people from spending money. When your "go to" mech can't be customized, how likely are you to spend money on your secondary mechs? I'm not sayinf the founders mechs are everyone's "go to" choice, but I'm willing to bet they are for a substantial portion of the player base.

OP mirrors my idea from the Camo Spec Feeback, but much better stated. +1

I also support these idea's! It would be great to be able to paint all your mechs the same color/pattern so you may represent yourself as a Lone Wolf, or as part of a House ect. I am not rich, I am slightly below middle class, so as you can imagine my money if worth more to me than repeatedly buying the same paint's/Camo's for each and every Mech. Come on PGI, you can't deny, that our idea's put a warm hearted sparkle in your eye!

Sincerly,

I'm in full support of this. I had an almost identical thought the moment I saw this lousy paint system they've implemented.

Currently I refuse to waste my MC points / money on over priced cammo for each and every mech. I fully support this idea and would happily buy cammo if I were to unlock the colour.

I just spent $1.12CAD for the PC Gamer MWO issue at Zinio.com to get the free paints, because permanent possession is the only reasonable purchase decision.

Glad to hear most folks like the idea. Please let your friends know to come here and bump this post, and if you have friends who are mods or devs, point them in this direction.

I want to buy customization for my mech! I just can't justify it under the current system, and to me that's a shame because they are developing a system that would really add a lot to the game without affecting the battlefield.

Yes this thread needs miracle grow, love, and classical music.

The prices on everything in this game are very high, but as it stands the Camo Spec system is ridiculous.

If anything a formal petition should be started.

Not that I think it'll get us anywhere as cosmetics = bank for F2P.

Its a rip off, they know it, but they know multitudes will cave eventually.

I'm throwing my support behind the OP as well... paint customization was one thing I was really looking forward to and from what I've been reading, (haven't been able to log in since the patch), I would be much happier with the OP's system over what is curently in place. +9000

I am in agreement.

The PC gamer pattern is awesome since it can be applied on and off at no cost. This feels much better, and can still generate PGI some cash if I change my mind too much.

Also agree with OP's proposed idea. It works much better than the current system and invites players to spend the money, rather than preventing them from doing so (much like myself). I tend ot buy MC in $30 increments, a paint scheme/camo pattern can be $5+ per mech. No thank you, I'm going to save that for premium time and new mechs down the road, plus mech bays.

Until the paint/camo feature becomes more realistically affordable, I won't be painting my mechs.

The lack of naysayers and trolls on this subject is refreshing. The consensus is listen to OP and change camo spec! PGi will earn way more money this way.

thumbs up for the OP.. a system like that would really make me throw money. The actual system feels like a joke, and a bad one, incentivating me to go around with the green military colour and nothing else.

They chose to milk us plain and simple with the camo sys.
