100% Support the idea of the OP, and he is right. I took one look at those prices, and unless there turns out to be a mech which I end up piloting 99% of the time, and I want it to stand out, I will not be spending MC on paint. It's just too expensive. Bundle it up / let me perma buy it and you can shut up and take my money.

Yeah,... no.

No to "paint rentals".

Exactly.

Let me unlock colors and patterns with MC, and then use said colors or patterns on any mech I own (with the caveats of Founder Mechs and YLW not being editable or having limited options.)

Then a per-change CBill cost to paint the mech. And not the current 300k per color - a Paintjob should not cost more than a PPC. Seriously.

Like 25k to 50k CBills to change the paintjob, every time you change it. But you only have to spend MC once on a color palette or pattern.

I agree with just about everything stated. I would happily buy a paint for MC and apply that paint to any of my mechs for C-Bills. I would prefer if patterns/camo's were on a chassis by chassis basis. This would encourage me to buy them, and make me want to spend the money as I feel I would get worth out of it.

other f2p MMOs, llike Star Trek Online, let you unlock series accurate uniform pieces with premium currency, they are then permanently unlocked, and you can apply them to any character using in game non-premium currency, the MWO MC colors and patterns really need to work this way too, forcing you to rebuy them if you change them is just scummy and money grubbing.

I am also refraining from buying any paint stuff with MC until they are made into permanent unlocks and not just rentals.

I think these are great ideas and would really encourage more people to spend MC in the long run. Personally I won't spend any MC on paint or camo schemes until this is implemented. I hope you're listening PGI.

LoL uses a system where you buy your skin, get it forever, and change it between the same character as much as you want. skins on LoL cost anywhere from a few bucks to tens. Let this go with the same idea, big *** initial cost and small repaint cost

and ditch the ability to buy colors/skins for cbills, only mc but affordable! everyone will be running the dumbass looking cbill colors

MC's to buy the permanent paint sets.

C-Bills to apply them to mechs.

This , right here, is how to do it. Sell individual colors in MC, color packages with an MC discount, and a nominal C-Bill fee to apply to the 'Mech.

I'd also suggest a few basic color mods available only in C-Bills. Give free users a taste of customization, once they're hooked they can get the 'premium sets' with MC. Boom, you just converted a free user to paid.

Rock Band model... YES! This is exactly what would get me dropping bank. Easy enough to make new patterns, decals and colors. It's a never ending money maker that encourages spending rather than making you feel trapped.

You have my vote OP. I just use cbill paint right now because I don't want to spend MC on painting a mech that I'm not 100% sure I'll even keep.

This just makes too much sense. I was excited to sit down and play with the color options right after the patch. But once I realized that the camo was per mech, per use, I lost all interest. Fully support the idea of paying MC to unlock a color, and CB to apply it.

I like this idea.

Highly recommend a mod move this thread to the suggestions forum, or the OP make a duplicate post. I'd personally like to see a PGI response on this. It might get more attention from them there.

I agree with the OP 100%. It would be a good way to build the community, strengthen the brand, and increase sales all at the same time.

I like it. I was not going to waste any money on "fingerpainting", but this poster has almost convinced me that it might be worthwhile.
