Want To Sell More Mc? Here's How.

The idea I think would be to sell patterns (buy once - unlock), for something like 300MC on average (price goes up the more elaborate a pattern is - so for instance, for 200 you can get a simple two-colour striped thing; buy one for 500, and you get five channels with elaborate engravings on shoulderpads or whatever), with a colour wheel (colour changes would go for C-bills). Faction-specific patterns can also be sold (and would make money), custom decals when the engine allows it."Special" colours like metallics can be sold for MC, separately.
Finally, game atmosphere is always a concern - so should a mech in the universe be allowed have hot pink camo? No, but he has the right to buy it and get shot about twice as much on the battlefield. That's about it, really.

I'm all about supporting the game. I'm completely down with premium time and think it's a great machanic. (I think we should get GXP faster with it, but that's off topic.)
Being asked to spend about $7.50 for a full paint scheme and new pattern, on one mech, once... Is insulting. I know we are getting a lot 'for free' and I am greatful for the game! I can't stress that enough. I still feel that someone should expect to have a "complete" game play experience by the time they've spent $60-80, like any other AAA game. After that, any further cash that feels "necessary" to spend should be for new content on the order of an expansion. Obviously, there will always be those who spend MC like water for new mechs and such, and that's fine.

I am happy to spend MC on things that I can own, not rent! And I would expect them to be available across all mechs.
I am happy to spend MC on content that has involved some effort to create. E.g. Camoflage pattens, Decals, Colour Sets.
I would also be happy to spend MC to store colour schemes, or to purchase unit colours.
I am happy to spend C-bills on a repaint. I just don't want it to cost more than a repair and rearm... that makes no sense!

Short and sweet, this guy is exactly right. I don't mind paying for something I get to keep, and something that's reasonable. Not something that feels like it could have been done in 5 min in between texting to programmers gf, that I won't even be able to call mine (talking about the paint, don't care about any of the PGI's significant others... don't break my mech!).

Right now, I have spent ZERO MC on paint because I can't stand the thought that I don't get to keep what I bought if I ever change it. I doubt I'll be spending any in the future either unless something REALLY awesome comes out.
If the OP's idea were implemented and I "owned" the colors/skins kind of like the PC Gamer stuff, I would already have bought several colors and probably all of the skins. One thing I did spend money on is the Gazelle Dropship cockpit item because guess what? I get to keep it for life and put it on whatever mech I want! I've also spent money on GXP to skip the grind on a couple of mechs, because the benefits of that last forever as well.
PGI, if you want to make money, you have to make it so people WANT to buy your stuff. Same goes for mechs - cut the MC price of mechs in half and you will see MORE than double in mech sales. Sometimes I don't feel like spending 5 hours playing to get a new mech but there's no way in hell I'm dropping 15 bucks to do it.
