If a Pug will not organize how will they do anything in planet capture?

1. A single person will not own a drop ship, how will they get there mechs to planet let alone planet side?
2. Do you want the balance of the planet depending on Pugs to go either way? I think there are a lot more Pugs than regulars. A planet might never get taken or it might get taken quickly.
3. Coordinated attacks... Pugs will go where they want. Attack whatever planet they want. Whatever city, (square to fight on) they want.
I just see a lot of issues with single player in a team game.

The players interested in planetary capture/control will be using a seperate system to facilitate that, which will likely be focused on teams vs teams gameplay (both house teams and merc unti teams which act like a small independant house)

But they dont even have a system for it yet. We don't know how it is going to work, so most of those things may not even matter.

I think you have a very big idea of what planet capture is like, and it wont be anything like that. Most likely you will look at the Inner Sphere map, click on a planet/system being contesting, and drop 8vs8 matches like you are doing now, except each win or loss adds or subtracts your sides control of that planet.

Stats pages need cool things, and just numbers are boring.
Example:
The New Avalon Conquest and
Boot to the Face of the Imperialist Federated Sons Award

Merc battles will be only against other mercs for control over separate planets.

All houses will have areas on their borders that are in contention. Those pugs and grouped house players will drop into one of these. It's not a planet chosen by someone else per say but a zone of contention between factions on the star map.

I disagree completely... PUGs dropping where ever they want on whatever planet they want is not planet capture, that is Solaris..
What House is going to give single players a contract to attack there enemy?

This is what I'm expecting. Matches will be the same, they'll count towards planetary conquest outside of the match however. Some matches may be worth more points, and some may give the defenders a bonus towards their conquest points.

It is assisting your house in capturing. The war is always larger than your single battle. It will be the aggregate score of what everyone does that determines who wins the planet. Single players don't have contracts, they fight for the house in battles against the houses enemies on its borders.

well assuming control is established by winning a certain amount of matches on a given map... everyone is contributing to the outcome (if he's part of the right house, etc.)
nevertheless you're right that it might be awkward if a planet is lost, just because house steiner (just an example) got unlucky in 5 pug drops in a row...

I honestly do not think planet capture is going to be the easy "Just drop" scenario you are expecting. I do not think it will be just click a planet and there you are drop. You will have to take a transport to get there a drop ship to get you planet side.

Pugs will most likely be more involved in the Faction part of CW, where planetary attacks will probably occur less but have a larger scale...

what i do think is, that if you have to get a transport (possibly charge your ship in the different systems, etc) it might be a bit ... dunno.. clumsy/uncomfortable for an online game

But you are assuming that the system(which does not exist yet) is going to let them do that in the first place.
Ill gurantee you it will not work like that.
