Does any one know how the voice chat is going to be handled? I have tried numerous games that include voice chats, and alot of them have problems. Some games have bad feedback or noise in their voice chat, others have delays of up to 5 seconds.

Hi Cruxshadow, as of launch there will be no voice chat, you will have to use a 3rd party voice communications (Teamspeak, Skype, Mumble) and so on... the Developers said they would look into it post launch.
Ah, thank you.
I thought one of the staff had mentioned in the topic about base cap that there was going to be something in the voice chat that would effect the cap. I guess I must have miss understood.

Post launch they will look at it.

This is an enormous mistake on their part. No integrated VOIP absolutely destroyed any semblance of teamwork or cooperation in BF3 and turned it into a random disorganized clusterfrak. The same will happen to MWO. This will have a severe impact on the way the game is played by 90% of the playerbase.
They cannot launch like this.

I'm going to agree with this - look how multiplayer for War for Cybertron on the PC was treated (no voice chat whatsoever - actually no chat whatsoever, not even text) and look how quickly the playerbase fell off the end of the earth.

Yeah, I really don't understand the mindset companies seem to be taking in regards to gaming these days. Battlefield 3 is a perfect example, a game built around team play... and lacking anything resembling team communication capabilities. Sure, you can stop and type...but in a combat-based game, this isn't really all that efficient a method of communication.
We'll see the same flaws here. Teams will get along fine, as they do in any game, it's when you start putting pug groups or filling slots with Lone Wolves that you'll see things fall apart.

they want us to work together. they do not put in VOIP. they give us what looks to be 20 minutes a match. they say we can/most likely will use a 3rd party VOIP. problem. not all of us will hail from the same merc corps. not every one of us will have the same VOIP. we all have our preferences. I have a few myself, BUT, I have an ultra small 2 man merc corp. I will be pugging my matches every single bloody time. I dont have the time, nor do the rest of my team to give me their voip information and have me get on for 20 minutes then depart. I really think that with in a month of launch, they should devote resources to getting a voip installed if they want us to be able to fully cooperate. Chat boxes are fine, but, how many of us have 3 hands or more? for me: right hand joystick, left hand throttle. i wont have the time to let go of the controls to talk.... not putting it in for launch, i can buy, makes getting the game going easier, but, it shouldnt be cast aside, and i hope they look into it quickly after launch.
worse on xbl.

That is one of many reasons I do not now, nor ever intend to own that series of console.
The frustrating part about it is yeah, there are free programs out there...and someone who wants to be able to communicate with any team he gets assigned to (Sure some of these major Merc Corps will be okay, but I can't be fielding 11 buddies with me each time I play, I'm going to have lone wolves in most of my matches). When playing with unit comrades, third party voice works fine. But when you get assigned a half dozen random lone wolves...team coordination vanishes entirely.
Typing is a useless endeavor in any combat-game. The pace of the game is far too fast. Sure it works in MMORPG style games, where you have several seconds worth of cool-down and often enough a full group of people pounding away on the same enemy or small group of enemies. But in a PVP combat game, things are going to move fast. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't keybind a quick-chat command for any concievable situation. "Rej watch that atlas on your left flank." is far too much to type when it's happening, and far too detailed to be a keybind. Commo-rose style commands are largely ignored by most players in the game's I've played, and worse, they're not typically unit specific. I can say "Enemy at this location" But unless my comrades take the time to find my location, they aren't going to know where that happens to be. Further, "Watch your six" is so generic it makes everyone in the lance do an about face, often enough everyone BUT the guy you intended the message for.
I'm not the sort to throw a tantrum over something like voice in a game, but I will say it is a mistake to consider it unnecessary for the launch. I had hoped Battlefield 3 would be the last title I played that built on teamplay then made it impossible to coordinate with your team in most of your matches.

i agree 100% man, this games far too fast paced to not have it built in at some point. even based on videos taken while the game is at 75% complete at best? we can hope right?
