I just bought Far Cry 3 and I put my graphics setting at DX 11 all on high (Not Ultra) with SSAO. It looks incredible (even better than MWO). 1920 x 1080 resolution. My average FPS was at 55 and the lowest it dip was about 35fps.

MWO other wise I put it at 1650 x 1050, medium graphics at DX9 and all I get is 22-35 fps average. PGI fix your stuff.

1) Far Cry 3 graphics LOOKS AMAZING. EVEN BETTER THAN MWO.

2) Frame rate was literally doubled on Far Cry 3.

3) I don't care if it is beta or not, if people can't play this game, there won't be any money coming.

My real issue is that the game was playable for me a month or so ago 20-30fps

but post cry3.4 I cannot play at all as I get 6-8fps in combat with constant stuttering

Ironically, Far Cry 3 doesn't use CryEngine.

Yes! Finally an important topic. I thought about this earlier while watching a bit of FarCry 3 on twitch. Essentially same engine so performance and stability comparisons should be posted here at MWO. If what you say is true, it's likely to reflect poorly on devs, but the stream I was watching mentioned bugs and stuff in FC3 also. Not sure if they were game bugs or what, cause I left when I got bored of watching people drive jeeps.

No it's not.

Also, this game is in beta. FC3 is a full release.

Far Cry 3 uses the Dunia 2 engine. CryEngine variants are used in the Crysis series.

Lol! It doesn't use CE3 at all. It uses Dunia 2 engine instead.

Someone beats me to it. :D

Plus FarCry has a much larger developer team with a large publisher who pumps more money into it a week then this game likely has ever had.

Besides, lots of people don't have these FPS problems. I run it on max with nothing more than an average computer and I never have FPS issues.

Another worthy note is one that this game is made and written for DX11 but is using a DX9 render, so a lot of performance issues will come with that. Also most of the cards we are using are made for DX11 and as such suffer when using DX9. Now one would think if your card can do 11 it should be able to do 9 really well, and generally that would be correct IF the game in question was made for that DX level. A lot of preform issues should go away once 11 finally comes, I am assuming it will be in "Two Weeks™" with the "big update".

Two Weeks™ for those who don't understand or were too young back then, is a joke made on EA when an update (I forget the games name) was supposed to come in two weeks....it took 4 months for it to come so it became a joke in the gaming community.

Not to mention FC3 was supposed to come out 3 months ago, but was literally pushed back from Sept 4 to Dec 4.

Wow, there is no shortage of people lurking around here waiting to correct someone. Even when the mistake has already been rectified. Anyway, thanks. Crysis, FarCry etc, never played them. I was looking at other games that use Cry engine 3 not many of note. Of course star citizen looks amazing but chris said its gonna need some power to run it with all those textures and models. Any cryengine3 games out that people here have?

I noticed this too, when I looked at the list again since I literally could not name a single CryEngine game other than Crysis or MWO off the top of my head.

Wikipedia said:

In August 2010, PC Gamer reported that development of Far Cry 3 was in "full swing" at Ubisoft Montreal.[17] In the same month, Game and Swedish retailer Webhallen listed the game for a 2010 release, which didn't happen.[18] In January 2011, Ubisoft declined to comment on speculation that Far Cry 3 will be hitting shelves in October after Game Informer listed the game as an October arrival in its 2011 preview feature.[19]

In February, the Official PlayStation Magazine suggested that the game was due for release at the end of 2011 as the following quote suggested, "Start taking the malaria medicine in preparation: Far Cry 3 could be arriving before the end of the year."[20] This statement was withdrawn in next month's edition where it was stated that the game would be shown on 2011's E3 and that the release date would be bumped back to 2012.[full citation needed] In May, the CVs of a couple of stuntmen listed Far Cry 3 as one of their previous projects.[21] The first official walkthrough was released at the 2011 E3 conference on June 6, 2011.

honestly OP you should just request this thread be deleted... your entire premise (e.g. both games are using CryEngine 3) was wrong...
