When it depends money you can post in this forum, but when the whole community writes on 39 sites and want a statement and answers on important questions no forum admin is there...

I do not understand your statement.

Speak clearly and with focus.

question...
I noticed that
  • A light to medium mech runs straight into a large group of enemies, and gets killed quickly
Can flag you as against the terms of service. Which sucks cause i'm using spiders right now and they are VERY SQUISHY against a few notable builds... DUEL AC/20's. i'm normally look like a kamkize zipping thru enemys on some maps. Would this get me banned?

If it does it shouldn't... what there actually looking for (in my understanding) is people running into a large group and running around to get killed at the start of a fight, then quitting the match, then joining another real quick to make CB/XP much faster than they should.

Let them...I´d rather play the round, deal as much damage as possible and get way more CB and EXP in a single round .
The only thing missing now would be a direct comparison to both methods ... any takers(hint, hint)?

So I can get banned for being a crappy cicada pilot? Turn one too many wrong corners in Canyon Network and my $80 Phoenix prepurchase turns into a big, non-refundable donation.

No...you can get banned for doing it over and over again, in all mechs, over a period of time. If you don't see the difference between that and what you said there are bigger problems though...

You are missing his point though - how could the system differentiate between a crappy/unlucky pilot on a bad streak or a Troll?

Yes, it is. They'll be here eventually, if nothing of a higher priority intrudes.

Unless, of course, some huge event happened which required lots and lots of different new mech types showing up all at once. Even then, it would be ok to handle.

Unless, of course, those lots and lots of new mechs also had an entirely new set of weapons that had to be integrated and balanced against what all is already here.

But that's about as unlikely as the old Star League suddenly showing back up after all this time....

How very subtle :)

I would think it would not be hard to set a limit of two matches(mechs) in a battle simultaneously, as a maximum to cut way back on the botting of multiple mechs in battle.

The system doesn't need to; it just needs to flag players that match a heuristic for human review, and then a human needs to eyeball it, erring on the side of caution. Every so often, have a mass banning of the obvious worst of the worst, and let publicity scare the majority of the player base into compliance. This is exactly what most MMO companies do. Doing bans in waves also has the added benefit of making it harder to tell exactly what behaviors the heuristic looks for and work around it.

I think they are looking for people who intentionally and repeatedly run out of bounds at the start of the match.

Mass bans and fear tactics NEVER work. All it will do is make innocent people warry of being banned for offenses they didn't commit. Personally, it would make me REALLY distrustful of PGI because I would constantly have to worry about being banned because of a single false positive that nobody ever took the time to look into. Precision strikes would be better as it shows that PGI is actively going after the troublemakers as opposed to sudden mass ban carpet bombing which just makes them look sloppy and desperate.

Seems me thinks usually those who worry 'bout being banned are the true offenders.... I'm hopefully wrong.

It would seem so, but consider that - back in the dark days of lagshielding - I managed to inflict 5 teamkills on someone - and while it is highly unlikely that he did so on purpose (a lot of those shots came awfully near hitting me) it would not be inconceivable for him to be banned over that - you be prepared to stake your account on the chance of something similar happening? And random number screwing does happen, even in better put together games such as WoW or WoT
-had a bugged period where all my mage's AOE were hitting friendlies instead of hostiles in WoW for example, and almost had my account removed on account of it.

I do not know how the game plays for you, as that is really dependent on a lot of factors - but I myself no longer have to aim 4-5 mechlengths ahead of what I am shooting at when what I am shooting at is moving 130+kph - in other words - whilst lagshielding may still be around for you - for me (which is the only thing I can comment on) it is not.
