I see way way way too many people immediately target the Center Torso, even on AFK and or Mechs in a 4 v 1 hopeless situation.

Expert Pilots know to blow off the legs of those mechs... and here's why.

Salvage = 2% of undestroyed components.

So here's a "Hypothetical" component build-up of a mech:

Quote

Left Arm Weapons: 350k
Right Arm Weapons: 350k

Right Torso Weapons: 350k
Right Torso Equipment: 100k

Left Torso Weapons: 200k
Left Torso Equipment: 100k

Left Leg Equipment: 20k
Right Leg Equipment: 20k

Center Torso Weapons: 200k
Center Torso Equipment: 2,000k

Cockpit Weapons: 50k

Total Potential Mech Value: $3,740
Total Potential Salvage: $75k
Total Potential Salvage/Player: $9.4k

Scenario 1: Blow out the Center Torso:

Quote

Total Mech Value: $1,540
Total Salvage: $31k
Total Salvage / Player: $3.9k

You'll see this is generally what people do that results in salvage of $25k per match.
$31k total for killing all players, less a little bit for destroyed extremidies

Scenario 2: Blow out the Cockpit:

Quote

Total Mech Value: $3,690
Total Salvage: $74k
Total Salvage / Player: $9.2k

This is a pretty good alternative if you are really just need to "kill the guy" and move on.

Scenario 3: Take out the Legs:

Quote

Total Mech Value: $3,700
Total Salvage: $74k
Total Salvage / Player: $9.25k

This actually produces slightly more Salvage than blowing out the cockpit and "Doubles" the rewards for blowing out the center torso.

So please... When you see a helpless mech or vastly outnumber one (and you expect to win), take out the legs.

Agreed.
With AFKs and Disconnects, blow the legs out if you absolutely need to kill them. More salvage.

Cockpits if you need to do it quickly.

An interesting Corrollary to this is that if your team does just destroy the legs off that AFK player, it is better than capping the base (5,000 Cap + 2,500 assist < 9,250).

For cbill concise people, I totally agree.

If you're looking for extra exp, then you would need to pull off one leg, both arms, then the side torso with the highest number of weapons.

If you want to maximize cbills, then by all means blow the legs. For those of use who want to maximize the total overall rewards, however, if you can get 7 efficient kills (head/both legs) and then maximize non-lethal damage to lucky number 8 and cap then you will get the most cbills and xp together. The main things to watch for with picking apart target 8 are whether it has an XL or not (precludes blowing the side torsos) and whether or not the rest of your team is playing along. As soon as one player starts lighting up the CT/Head it becomes a race to see who can do the most damage and get the kill.
