for some reason i take off some equipment and it should equal out to a round number example 54 tons... but it ends up being 54.4 something is definitely wrong with its calculator

the reason its doing this is that you are not taking into account how much armor you have on your mech.

For example. I have my Catapult at a full 65 tons. If i was to remove 18 points of armor... my tonnage would than drop to 64.4

18 points of armor is 0.6 tons. In your case you have armor somewhere that is not allowing an even tonnage after you removed whatever equipment.
