Yes this is me doing random excel work on MWO costs. ;)

Basically I've listed the different MC packages they have available, and how much you save by going with a larger package. I then did calculations showing how much different things cost in the game based on how you bought your MC.

Example - if you are a founder with the 20000 MC package it would cost us $11.25 for a Yen-Lo. If someone was to buy the 12000 MC package for $49.95 it costs you $15.61 for that same mech. (This of course doesn't take into account that a founder got a mech with his package, and 2 months premium time)

I gave a bunch of examples, including paint and premium time, hope someone can use it. It's helped me plan out my future with the game a bit. :o I'm glad I did this AFTER buying an Awesome AWS-9M, I might have thought differently.

I've been wanting one of these actually, thanks OP.
Also, could you upload the Excel file some where so I can add to it if I want?

Dang, wish I had seen this when open beta started. Would have spend my MC on 6-months of premium time and saved myself $35.00

Yeh, it really underlines how much of a deal the Founders packages were. (My calculations are based on the Elite package)

But yeh, I'm wishing I hadn't bought those two mechs now. Oh well. If I'm still loving the game in 2 months, I'll spring for some more MC and buy the 6 month package...

I think it underlines how bad of a deal MC currently is, especially at the lowest tiers. I think it does a disservice to young people and those on tight budgets to give them a raw deal like that, but if PGI thinks it's a winning business decision power to them, they're the stakeholders. Even the evil-empire Microsoft wasn't money hungry enough to sell packages with diminishing returns at the lower tier. It's bad enough you have to buy MC in chunks to spend on odd MC priced items (leaving you with leftovers, or have to buy two different packages for certain items) instead of just charging you directly for the item, adding a layer of diminishing returns is bad tact IMO and reflects poorly on PGI in my eyes.

I was playing around with this file today since the new dragon heroes were released and thought I'd see how much we can expect some of the clan mechs to cost. I tested it on the timberwolf and direwolf with the sarna price data (not exactly what we can expect but close enough) and at a rate of 2500 c-bills per MC (the highest rate found from the most expensive atlas, with the loest being 2491 on a commando).

A Timberwolf costs 9693 MC and a Direwolf costs 11740 MC. At those prices a Timberwolf costs almost $39 and a Direwolf almost $47 at the highest purchase tier, with both requiring a minimum of $50 to acquire them, and lets not even get started on hero mechs which seem to add as much as 3000 MC to the price.

In the long run i just can't see these MC prices being being anything short of unreasonable, there is no way I'm willing to spend the price of almost a whole game on one mech, no matter how much I might want some of the hero mechs that are going to coming out in the future.
