We all have that one battlemech that we love despite the fact that all our friends and peers say it sucks, or it has an overall ugly and bizarre design, or fails to complete the task it was created to do, or is such a niche design that its utility is limited to a single task that is accomplishable using it... in short we all have our Urbanmech.

What 'mech design is your Urbanmech?

Is it the Urbanmech itself? Is it the bizarrely fast but comically underpowered Charger? The intimidating but ultimately useless Arbiter?

My Urbanmech is the Hellspawn it was supposed to replace the Dervish but instead became more or less a total dud, being twice as expensive with less close in firepower, and less armor. It does have some saving graces, being on the top end of the speed chart for a Medium and possessing extraordinary heat dissipation qualities mainly because of its (what many call weak) armament.

Me, I really like the way it looks and that is probably the basis of my fascination with the 'mech. I like to play around with configurations to see if I can create one that makes the 'mech more competitive but haven't been able to break the 1,300 BV mark.

MIne is Shadow Hawk. Nope, it's perfect mech.

What about Vindicator? Well, apart from the fact that ejecting is a suicide (I will never have to eject, anyway), it's a very good mech.

I'm sorry, but I don't have my Urbie. :D

Besides the UrbanMech itself, there's the Hetzer wheeled assault gun and the MechBuster conventional fighter. Both are excuses to strap the biggest weapon available to the cheapest and most expendable chassis/airframe you can find. The Hetzer also has the added bonus of Quikscell's high manufacturing standards; better hope you have enough spare screws lying around. :D

The Hellbringer (Loki). This thing is insanely underarmored, undergunned and the designers apparently decided to use the prime configuration as a christmas tree. Despite all of this, It just looks like it's ready to brawl.

Like the urby being the lightest brawler I've ever seen, the Hellbringer is the heaviest scout mech that I've ever seen.

In TT I have to admit the Mauler is my Urbie. The damn thing can't even fire off its 2 ERLL without overheating. A mech that cannot evenuse its primary weapons without risking a shutdown is just the dumbest thing in the world to me. And if I remember correctly the MW4 version of the mech was none too much better either.

Meet Rakshasa, the sorry fellow who thought he could be a Mad Cat.

And don't forget the older cousin of the Mauler, the Daboku! Complete with a jack-in-the-box cockpit! You never know when you'll be shot blissfully careening into the sky!

Is that the OTT-7K?

As for my 'UrbanMech'...
Does the PNT-9R count?

Enforcer. Slow, poor armor. Still love it though.

The UrbanMech is hard to beat, but with TT construction rules you can create a quad legged UrbanMech LAM. I have a custom made pewter miniature of one around my house somewhere.

It is too slow to make it to flight speed on the ground, so to get airborn you have to fall off something high to gain the falling speed to start flying.

Either really, the 7j or 7k. The Tag is a bit more usefull, but then you naked. And everyone complains about the look......But I love them.

They are actually good mechs once you can begin to fit them with Lostech.

EDIT. The pic I believe is of a 7J with the Med Laser in the chest.

I don't have an "Urbanmech", but my favorite mech is the Archangel C-ANG-O (Dominus).

The Hellbringer(Loki), #5 Nailgun Nixon hit this one on the head for me. The mech has more weapons and junk than it could use safely, that combined with the weak armor and lack of heat management makes it.... insane. Despite all that it is still a great looking mech that I keep using for some reason.

The Hollander has a big gun. But it does't do too much else.

I also have a tender place in my heart for the Tarantula because... well... ok, I have no idea. It's just too silly not to love. Having extra legs to blow off never hurt either.

Pity, I love the Rask. Its like the Diet Coke of the Timber Wolf. Best the IS could do I guess.....
