I was shot by single lrm10 in open area (forest map, water area, range 500m+) when I was playing my atlas-K which had 2 AMS and they only destroyed about 6 missiles. The AMS should destroy 5 missiles per system, right? Please fix this asap. It's hard to justify using the K model when the double AMS is not working right.

IIRC AMS only destroys 2-3 missiles when used singly.

Where did you read this? Everybody says its 5. Any links to a dev saying it?

From ingame experience. Similarly, I doubt you can back up 'everybody says it's 5' - that's probably from what you perceive ingame.

Consider also that if AMS destroys 5 missiles from every salvo, 3xSSRM2 from a Commando would do next to zero damage on single AMS mechs - like Jenners; yet, they're the main anti-Jenner setup in use by lights. Not to mention that a 2x AMS setup would be theoretically invulnerable to the 3xSSRM2 build.

If I remembered a dev quote on '2-3 missiles per AMS' I would already have linked it.

There was a thread not long ago where a bunch of people said the ams was getting 5 per salvo. That was for LRMs though. I find it has a hard time taking out more than 1 SSRM per salvo.

LRM's fly slower and are shot at further range so the AMS shoots them for the full 200m range. Streaks are usually shot closer and the AMS doesn't have time to fully destroy all of them (it is confirmed though by a dev that AMS does kill streaks if they are shot from 200m+ range). So you would not be immune to streaks. If your logic applied, wouldn't you already be immune to streaks? 2-3 missiles destroyed is all that a streak shoots. That's obviously not the case.

Someone did some testing a ways back, and if I remember correctly (might not be), I think it is 2xAMS was completely clearing 1 LRM 5 every time. I am sure there is some randomness to it as well

The reason I remember was the idea I had that 4 Atlas-k's would be able to strip 1 full LRM 20, basically cutting a 2xLRM20 milssile boat down to almost negigible if they moved up in force. *** 4 more single AMS mechs and you could literally ignore 1-2 missile boats in a slow advance.

Agreed. I have a K model Atlas as well and it seems to not be catching as many missiles as before. I'm not really complaining, as I tend to stay in cover a good bit, but it does seem reduced...

From Experience i can say that single AMS destroys Lrm 5 every other time completly (my centurion is build around 3xLRM5 in chainfire). If i shot at something with AMS the first wave is nearly always destroyed by AMS and the second wave arrives with 3-4 of the missles remaing same for the third.

Ams does not help very much with SSRMS as they are too fast and shot from too near. It seems as if AMS cant handle anything well that is nearer then 100m.

AMS can be overtaxed with chainfire, this is probably what you're seeing.

I have sat there and counted it on an Atlas launched volley of a 20 and seen it shoot down exactly 5 missiles before impact. Some people will tell you that number can be as high as 7. Personally I think its a matter of what and from where the missile were launched. An Atlas with a 20 dual launches 10 missiles to make the 20 while a Catapult has the expanded launchers to actually launch 20 at once. So I think the actual number it shoots down is based more on how spread out the missiles are in terms of flight time and grouping as well as distance to the target. It seems to only shoot down 4-5 max and 2-3 more often then not if its an Artemis volley which I think is due to the grouping.

Here are some numbers (I don't remember exactly where they ALL came from but I remember them coming from something official/well informed)

AMS deals 2 damage a second per AMS. Missiles have 1HP per, all types.

LRMs move at around 100kph from what I recall, SSRM~200kph (I've seen mine outrun when fired at fleeing targets ~100m away), and SRM ~300kph (seemingly near-instant impacts)

Apparently AMS has a range of about 200m. So now, we've got workable statistics.

2xAMS vs LRM...oh, a 20. LRM are in AMS range for 2 seconds. 4 missiles shot down per, assuming you're stationary. So, 12 make it through the fire, if my stuff is right (tbh idfk D: )

SSRM from max range (or any range outside 200)? In range for one second. I've seen my AMS without any support from any nearby ally neutralize a whole pair of SSRM, so I can sorta vouch for this one.

I believe AMS will also attack enemy SRM in range, but they go hella fast and don't usually get fired from far enough away to get whittled down. I've heard my AMS spazz out when enemy non-S SRMs get fired though, so I guess something's happening.

There, the most ******** ad-hoc statistics ever. 99% of forum users will agree.
