Ultra 5 Vs Ac5

Hey PGI,

So I seem to be having jamming on the ultra 5 way in excess of 25%.

But..that's not the point of this thread.

Why is the recycle for the ultra5 (in normal fire) 1.1 and the AC5 1.7?

AC2 is .5, and the AC10 is 2.5 or so?

Seems like the ac5 is a little underwhelming. I'm thinking it should be...1.3 or so for the regular ac5?

Just an idea.....Might make that weapon ...a little more useful considering the weight it uses...and it would be consistent and reliable..nothing OP...just solid. Right now it's relialbe...but...kinda slow considering it's only 5 damage.

And of course in canon novels ac's use a cartridge and spit a "torrent" of shells...

just saying.

My quad AC5 4X agrees!
So does the 792 damage I did using it last match.

On  a Serous note, the AC5 has a lower DPS than the AC2/10/20, Which seems a tad odd, a small buff to the firing speed makes sense,
Would it be to awesome if it was the same?

Current cooldowns and dps for reference:
Weapon/Cooldown/DPS
AC2 / 0.5 / 4
AC5 / 1.7 / 2.94
AC10 / 2.5 / 4
AC20 / 4.0 / 5

UAC5 / 1.1 / 4.55

Ultra jams way to much. Least 25% and worst of all jams on first shot. With the AC5 having the lowest DPS. Even the AC2 does more damage. I was thinking going to ultra 5 would make up that. I was completely wrong. Ultra AC 5.....worthless jamming piece of equipment.

someone on the TS i use said, that the UAC/5 is awesome and "if yoused with brain" will do way more damage, he said "just don't spam it on eery occasion"

An Autocannon 5 refresh rate should be 1.1 seconds. I like the Ultra Autocannon 5 despite it jamming. I have used it a lot. The cannon should never jam on the first shot though, only on follow up shots if you fire it more than once in 1.1 seconds. I hope they fix that bug.

I think the projectile speed of the Autocannon and Ultra Autocannon 5 should also be boosted by about 30%.

I take back than an Autocannon 5 reload rate should be 1.1 seconds. I think it reload once every 1.3 seconds. The Autocannon 5 never jams like the Ultra Autocannon 5.

But the projectile velocity rate also needs to be higher with the Autocannon 5, 10 and 20 still.

Don't have to use your brain if it jams after 1 shot (no double shot!). I've had that happen 3-4 times in a row.
Sometimes you can fire 5-10 shots without problem, then it jams on the first shot.
If anything, it should jam after a double shot, but never when you wait for the cooldown.

If the AC5 recycle is lowered without the UAC5 being boosted or fixed in some way, no one will want the UAC5. More slots, less ammo/ton, more weight. As it is it clearly has a higher DPS.

The difference is heat.
AC5 takes much less tons/slots to be heat neutral. A weapon that is not heat neutral does not use its full ROF as heat limits it.

I use a 4x with 2 UAC5's and I have zero problems. Even with my unupgraded engine I can get to cover to wait for my jams to clear. I can burn down an Atlas 1vs1 pretty reliably with my setup. For engaging mediums and lights I have an srm4 two mlas and two machine guns. That armament is plenty even without the UAC's.

I was trying that out a moment ago, and it does work pretty well, but I have had consistently higher damage/kills with AC5 x4. Not saying either is better, it's all playstyle. They both seem about equivalent.

The AC/5 rate of fire is fine. The Ultra AC/5 fire rate makes no sense. Why does the weapon already fire faster than the AC/5, and than adds double shot?

I towuld make more sense to bring it down to AC/5 level without double shot, and lower the jam frequency.

It costs $400,000, only gets 25 shots per ton, the ammo costs double the Autocannon 5, it weighs one ton more than the Autocannon 5 and it jams. It now only gets two shots every 1.5 seconds if it doesn't malfunction. The Ultra Autocannon 5 is fine where it is with the exception of these two points:

1) Ultra Autocannon 5 should never jam if it is not fired more than once in 1.5 seconds.

2) The projectile speed of the Ultra Autocannon 5 and Autocannon 5 should be increased by at least 30 percent.

I still think the Autocannon 5 fire rate should allow once every 1.3 to 1.5 seconds.

Price is not a balancing factor. Eventually all MW:O players are going to have millions and millions of spare c-bills and prices will not matter. Focus on the combat aspects of weapons and components.

That said, IMO AC/5 and uAC/5 should be identical in all apects except that the uAC/5 can double its rate of fire at the risk of jamming and weighs more than the standard AC/5 due to all that fast loading machinery.

The UAC does not jam on or after the first shot unless you take an immediate followup shot. If you saw it jam after the first shot then you must have attempted (intentional or otherwise) a followup shot in the cooldown.

The ultra ac5 is without a doubt the best weapon in the game fine with everything about it. Get 2 on a mech and spray like crazy from a distance and watch mechs run for cover. Love em.

Are you smoking crack? You must not use the UAC-5 at all or you would know for a fact that it does jam on its first shot. The best way to see this is to mount just one UAC5 on your mech. Just fire it like its an AC5 and during combat you will see it jam on its first shot. I've even had all 3 of my UAC5's jam on the first shot all at once more than once. That's right all of them in 1 group firing them in "only" single shot mode "without" any attempt (intentional or otherwise) to double tap them. All UAC users know this to be fact and that is why we all carry back up weapons.
