Problem: Patcher starts patching, then closes itself.
Solution: remove files: game_version.dll___old from the Bin32 folder; all of the *.pak___old files from the Game folder

The patcher apparently tried to modify these ___old files, but they were read-only so the patching failed. Evidence found in Bin32\PatcherLogs\ingame_patcher_log.txt file ("access denied" line with the file path and name)

Remove only the files with the ___old extension!

I am having this exact same problem. My game used to run and play fine, but I set it aside for the last month and have now come back to patch and play, but about one minute into the patch the patcher just closes itself. This is very frustrating to say the least. If anyone has any info on a fix for this please feel free to pass it on to me.

Edit: Fixed the problem. I completely uninstalled, re-downloaded the installer/patcher, and installed a clean install. Re-downloading the entire game wasn't something I would of liked to do, since it was working fine before and my internet connection isn't the fastest. But it was needed and seems to of fixed my problem. I guess I should of just done this to begin with instead of trying to search these forums for a resolution. Most of the threads about this have no replies or just other people saying they aren't experiencing this problem while not giving any useful info at all.

Thanks boss...

This worked... I had to remove ALLLLLLLL the ___OLD files... not just in the one folder but all folders. All ___old files had to go.

Thanks for looking into the log.
