For example the upcoming Stalker which has no variants with ballistic weaponry. (except the FedCom Civil war era 8S) A theoretical hero Stalker could have been modified with ballistic weaponry, thus breaking the current energy/missile weaponry mold for the Stalker. This, by my reasoning would be more likely to be purchased by players who would be intrigued by the increased uniqueness of the mech. Perhaps a Hero Atlas could have been turned into a "ghetto Longbow". The possibities are endless!(not really)

Anywho just an idea...

I don't mind, just as long as more 'canon' Hero Mechs show up as well, like the Jenner Samuli with an LRM15 in the Right Arm. Some other ones also have unique hard points, but not all.

It's an interesting idea, it just sounds like it might be getting a little close to P2W. We still have occasional P2W QQing over the YLW and it isn't even a significant departure from the other CN9s. Imagine the outrage if PGI was to introduce a hero mech that provided completely new loadouts unavailable on other variants or chassis.

I'm not saying there has to be a 4 gauss hero Atlas just add a little spice to the chassis. But yes, I see a dozen different ways it could go horribly wrong. ;)

It would be pure P2W in both cases - Stalker with ballistic hardpoints is just a bigger and better gauss Cat and "longbow" Atlas (assuming you are talking about 4 hardpoints instead of 3 existing on D-DC) will be a quad LRM20 boat one-shotting everything.

It's not a bad idea for the devs, since it would generate a lot more money for them, but it would have to be incredibly minor to balance it out.
