No I see MacEvedy is supposed to be McEvedy but according to Bloodright, Hallis was the only one they really found. I guess if you just announce yourself, that could be seen as bold.

There is another way... Find someone with some distant relation to a Wolverine Not Named Bloodnamed warrior and wipe out their line. You get to create your own Bloodhouse.

See Birthright for details...

By Clan law, if all descendants of a Bloodname are killed in battle, their vanquishers can lay claim to that Bloodname. The current ilKhan, Ulric Kerensky, ruled that this holds true for the Not-Named Clan as well.

if memory serves, in the wolf clan you have to have a sponsor from one of the bloodname houses to compete for their name after it opens up (i.e. they die). That just depends entirely on the individual bloodnamed people. Some won't care as long you show yourself to be a capable warrior, and others are incredibly prejudiced about such things.

Lethal Heritage is the only book I've read that deals with this in detail. Phelan Wolf was sponsored by Cyrilla Ward to fight for her bloodname. But her endorsement only allowed him to compete, it didn't guarantee him anything.

He did eventually gain the bloodname Ward though. He ended up becoming Kahn Phelan Ward of Clan Wolf-in-exile.

He started as Phelan Kell of the Kell Hounds no less... defending The Rock from invasion forces led by Clan Wolf.

Granted... he was at first a member of the Wolves Dragoons when he was young but he may or may not have known of what that meant at the time. He also may or may not have actually been born of Clan Heritage.

It is a different matter for the Absorbed as opposed to the Annihilated. The Wolverines are Annihilated & thus their Bloodnames are considered tainted & outlawed. Nobody CAN have them & even if they COULD, nobody would WANT them. When the Wolves Absorbed the Widowmakers they used some of their Bloodnames.

Hmmm... Every place I've read so far seems to spell it MacEvedy... But whatever...

(Okay, maybe not every. One I think had it as MacEvady...)

LOL. I checked the sourcebooks. It is McEvedy but that is a small matter now. This would be a good RP to have (if they allow characters to die) to allow a Clan warrior to kill a relative of the Not-Named Clan members to create their own Bloodname.

Frankly, the thing is I created this character for a MechWarrior (tabletop) game a while back. And then asked on the CBT forums about anyone with a name like MacEvedy living in the IS becoming a MechWarrior.

And they basically said I would have a target on my back from any Clansman and would be actively hunted (they pointed to Birthright and I acquired it).

Worse the original was from the DC...

I think a lot of people missed the point of what a Bloodname truly means. The Bloodname itself is not an honorific that is fought over. The Bloodname is an honorific title given to the chosen few who have won the right to have their genes put into the gene bank for the next generation of trueborn warriors.

Meaning, a warrior fights for the honor to have their genes create the next generation of Trueborn warriors. If the warriors wins, they get the title (Bloodname) to show that they have won such an honor.

The Bloodname is almost impossible to get rid of because it would mean the scrapping of a generation of Trueborn warriors that were in incubation. Only the Khan can make that decision.

If you want to know more about what a Trueborn is go here: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Trueborn
