This following trick will make it so that if you fire Weapons Group 6, it will constantly fire for the rest of the match. Simply put TAG into group 6, press 6 one time a match, and there you go, auto-firing TAG.
1. Download this: [redacted]
2. Place the zip file into: C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Game
3. Unzip.
4. This created two new folders, [redacted]
That's it, you're done!
For your convenience, I have also included a file call "[redacted]. This is a backup of the original file (As last extracted from the December 4th [redacted]), in case you wish to revert back to it. Simply rename it and get rid of ".bak".
If you found this useful, hook me up with a Like in the bottom right.
Thanks!
For some reason, this fix disables the cockpit light.
Edit: I figured it out. The newest version of [redacted] needs to be extracted and have the code updated. I would provide the file, however I have a bunch of crazy keymapping.

yep, every time a new key with a function is introduced into the game the procedure have to be repeated. (extract and modify the xml)
Last dev change on the [redacted] was on the 2013 Jan 02. The OPs file is from 2012.12.05.
I´ll try to report here next time when the file changes with a new patch.

It is really toggable and not permanent like this XML edit.

You need AutoHotkey for this, to compile it yourself.

Is that just saying that the download file on page 1 has been updated? Because I downloaded that already, and I saw no change.

Yeah...see, as I said, I can't paste anything into that XML document. It just comes up with a web page that I don't seem to be able to edit.

It is a bad idea.
In the same way that, say, having Counter-ECM on all the time is a bad idea; having night-vision on all the time is a bad idea; having heat-vision on all the time is a bad idea; having your weapon bay doors open all the time is a bad idea; having your AMS system on all the time is a bad idea (and you SHOULD be able to toggle it off, but you just can't right now).
But see here's the problem: TAG, like all the aforementioned system above, should probably have a toggle feature and not be treated like a weapon (apart from where it is located on your mech). But hey, I guess there is still room for suggestions!

This is actually a popular tweak. Tell me how many mechs you have personally spotted with thier TAG on. It is barely visible.
PGI does need to make TAG toggle by default.

There are better ways to use the TAG. Macros e.g.
