And I spotted the enemy Jenner that I had left alone, because he was a little warpy earlier, running past me at 250 meters with a crit CT. I aimed right on him as he was running full speed past me and shot.

Enemy Jenner has been killed by Stone Wall

His lag shield wasn't really effective as I just pointed and clicked and he died. This and many other battles lead me to believe that Jenners aren't always in God Mode.

Light vs lights do full damage, lights take half damage from large mechs.

If the target is moving in a straight line towards or away from you, the lag shield will not protect him.

The target must be turning, or otherwise moving at a angle away from you.

Can anyone give the answer? I have no idea if Lights receive half damage from heavier mechs. From experience, it doesn't feel like it.

Game mechanically, it's nonsense.

Practically, the lag shield may make it feel like it is. But it's not a game mechanic.

I'm pretty certain that they don't.

given that leading lights with my splatapult (six SRM6 cat) usually leads to a light mech with no armour left any where and orange/red internals this when half the missiles don't hit leads me to believe they take full damage.

There was a rumor to that effect going on in earlier Beta, no idea if it's true.

The reason that a large mech does less damage to a lighter mech is due to the mechanic of doubled armour introduced early in the closed beta as they deemed light survivablity as too low. All mechs received the double armour buff, and subsequently pgi had to increase the weapons damage output for balancing. However, the damage increase does not effect light mechs when fired from larger mechs as light mechs are not effected they still do increased damage to lights. You can prove this in game... it will take you the same amount of time and shots to destroy a light mech as it does to destroy a larger mech. So whatever Murzao and FrostPaw say, the proof is in the pudding...

And I'm not talking about lights running at full speed, where they are protected by the lag shield!!! That makes killing them take even longer that killing heavier mechs.

NOPE.

Proof of the pudding is that if a jenner travels in a straight line away from me my guassapult instantly kills it in the back.

They absolutely don't.

It's the weapon that does the damage, not the mech.

This can be double-checked in the following way.

It takes 2x Alphas to Headshot a mech with a 30-DMG alpha.
Check this with a DC'ed Jenner or Commando, using both a Light and a Medium.

You won' see any difference between the two.
I've done this multipile times with different mechs (not because of my tin-foil hat, but to spare a mate from being pug-***** when he DCs/Blackscreens/etc).

The person who made that comment was just trying to be a smartarse, and you took it seriously.

*EDIT* The reason the guy above is seeing it take more hits to down a light is due to netcode/hitox de-sync.
I've had AC20 shots hit a Light and do no damage (as they've hit other mechs and do none).

Also, you can occasionally hit a mech, see the red-reticle hit confirmation, but still do no damage, as indicated by the paper doll.

This is true across all mechs, but because everyone loves to think Lights are immune to pain, these instances stick in the mind vs Lights, whereas they get forgotten against Mediums & Heavies.

I would imagine that jenner pilots like most pilots shift armour to the front... I would imagine that twin gauss to many mechs could be an insta kill... so I do not understand your point.

Wrong.

Internals have set hp.

it's half the total armour that can be added to the part in question.

All mechs have differing internal HP. With it going up as mech size increases.

This is why an atlas still takes along time to kill even after the armour is stripped.

Do you even play this game?

All mechs have the same cockpit armour so it takes the same amount of alphas to kill any mech, as anything over 18 will hit the internals.

.......

So you agree light mechs don't have a 50% damage reduction shield.

Glad we understand each other.

Actually I do and I have been playing for longer than you... I have played hundreds and hundreds of hours of this game. Whilst I doubt I will sway your minds... get in game and consciously think about this as you engage both light and heavier mechs... you will see that I am correct.

LOL its not the armour but the effect of the weapon... your 2 x 30 damage alphas does 60 damage to all mechs except lights... however it does 30 damage to lights sufficient to kill the mech.
