Meh. I consider it somewhat exploitive, but not a 'cheat' or a 'hack'.
It is, in my opinion, on par with removing all but one of your jump jets to save weight because the game only cares whether you have them or don't have them - 1 JJ or 4, you get the same amount of lift.
Many people know about it, the vast majority believe it won't be this way forever, some take advantage while others do not.
I leave all my mech's jump jets equipped, and I pay for my ammo. Partly because I don't want to feel cheesy (because I would), partly because I don't want to feel pinched when things change. I'm getting myself accustomed to the proper weight allowance and full re-arm costs now, while others are getting the most they can out of the current system. I don't necessarily think they're 'doing it wrong', but I'm not interested in following their example.

If community warfare is intended to supplement or have bulk buy contracts then I don't have any problem PGI is trying to represent in the pre-community warfare implementation.
It just ****** me off that it is not widely known, If PGI wanted to be fair about it they would state in the reload that we are doing this and this is why and do it for everyone. Everyone should be treated equally.
I'll bet I know how this was discovered, some A-hole that was farming by not repairing his mech would running out and die quickly and let the rest of the team sweat out the rest of the match realized he had more ammo than he should.

It is in no way an exploit. Using tonnage for extra ammo means tonnage not spent on heat sinks, armor, weaponry, or engine.

Fine, I don't flame the dev's often and I don't question what they are doing, I've been a supporter of the dev's from the time I was accepted into into closed beta and bought my package within hours of them going up for sale. All I ask is to publicly notify me of game mechanics and to treat everyone equally. Is that too much to ask?

Also, apparently if you repair individual body parts instead of your whole mech, it is free.
I have not verified this because I'm lazy and I just R&R everything automatically.

It'll tell you the cost is zero, but will actually deduct the correct amount of cbills.

The bit you're missing is you need to load extra ammo to make it work, which means you spend mech tonnage on something for the metagame, I'm fine with people doing this to be able to afford missileboats. I'll just stick to my laserboats, I never pay to rearm either.

Saving 70k? How about 240k? That is what rearming my Atlas would cost me every round....
You run around with less if you use the free rearm, either you run dry or run with less weapons, armor and heatsinks, then you could, if rearming your Artemis IV LRMs would not cost more then you can sell some mechs for.

If you care so much about your income stream, you should have just turned off auto-repair and auto-rearm, if only to get an idea of your costs.
Once you do this its pretty darn obvious that you're getting repaired and rearmed to a certain extent for free.
