when people have legitimate complaints, (people with complaints always feel they are legitimate) no one wants some scrub that is having no problems to **** in their cereal and tell them the problems don't exist and that they should shut up and take it.

Indeed, I think the large amount of negativity is actually entirely due to the white knighting players. The people with problems feel they have to shout them ever louder or they will be drowned out by people going "BUT NOTHING IS WRONG!"
I know i'm posting quite negatively because people who don't understand the core mechanics keep saying everything is fine, when they have blatently poor understanding of whats going on.

Im positive you are correct, thats the funny thing, the white knights think they are helping and really when you get down to it by ignoring all issues even ones PGI themselves have announced they are hurting the game even more than the haters.

Blaming white knights for barking back at the doom and gloom crowd is annoying as well. By all means raise an issue, offer a fix, no one will jump your **** for that. White knights tend to bounce in after someone posts something with any of the following. OMG I HATE PGI THEY ARE ALL MORONS AND THIS GAME WILL FAIL BECAUSE ME AND MY BUDDIES ARE GOING TO QUIT IF YOU DONT FIX THIS THE WAY I WANT IT YESTERDAY. You want to throw your opinion around in the above manner, and not expect someone to shout back at you? Really?

It ain't the "white knights" that come up with the "OMG PGI IS INCOMPETENT!!111roflzomg"-stuff.
no but the people who say that are pretty much spot on, either pgi are incomptent in terms of programming skills or they are incompetent in terms of task management and prioritizing.
it's one or the other.
It doesn't help they split their workforce over three different game projects when they have such small staff numbers any way.
Three game projects for a 45 person studio... really?
Thats incompetent management to think thats feasible.

And you know that because you are in PGIs controlling-department... regarding their programming skills you must be a ex HR-department guy or some other important PGI person.
You're talking about peoples skills you know. How can a person not involved in the team/company watching a beta judge like this?

because you can see what is being prioritized and it's not the bugs. Thats a task management failure. Performance on the game client is being destroyed by these bugs as well.
They are trying to make three different games at the same time so their work force is split over a lot of different tasks.
Management failure.
If they have prioritized bugs over content generation their coders aren't getting any where. Most of these bugs have been in the game for more than four months.
Coding skill failure.
either way you bounce it, either their management and task priotizing sucks or their coders aren't good enough to deal with the game engine at hand.
Then throw in the lack of planning and understanding about multiplayer games that use real time positional data needing predictive algs and you have another failure. (this is something thats been known about since 95, there is no excuse not having something in place that solves this issue when solutions where devised nearly 20 years ago.)
Management/planning failure.
They still haven't hired their lead network engineer.
HR failure.
Yes pgi isn't a very good studio.
Either it's management is terrible which I think is more likely.
or their programmers are.
Personally I think the studio has over stretched what it can achieve with to many projects and not enough work force to achieve any of them properly.

I'd make a reply, but you'd only label me as a white knight and dismiss my point of view, even though it's based on being a software developer for more than a decade.
That's the major flaw here; even well-reasoned posts that don't fully jump on the doom-and-gloom train gets labelled as white-knighting or dev-behind-kissing. Anything short of completely razing the game, the devs, the code, the balance, and the communication gets labelled "white-knighting" by the doom-and-gloom brigade.
There is such a thing as a reasoned response, you know, and what you and the rest of the doom-and-gloom brigade are doing isn't it.
