It would seem u mad?

because I mean that's the only possible reason you could have for your post. did the big bad premade boogiemen touch you in naughty places and now you have sour grapes that they might actually be getting what they want and not have to deal with pugs anymore. I mean you might run screaming in a huff from a competitive environment you lose a couple times in but some of us are as happy to leave to a all premade envrionment as pugs are to see us go, because it will certainly pose a larger challenge than the current pug environment. And if the price i pay for it is a nice punch in the stats it will all be worth it to never have to deal with bots, afks, and tk'rs - i mean pugs still have to but when phase 2 comes in I won't, so have fun with them. :D

Their posts seem more like wry humor to me.

And in all honesty you cannot deny that there are a lot of people in for an ego deflating come next patch. Should make for some amusing posts on the forum. ;)

I agree that that most of these "Ubah-skilled" players with their 1-JJ Jenners and streakcats will most likely go back to 4-man PUG-stomping when they discover they are not, in fact, god's gift to the battlefield, and all the cheesebuilds in the world won't save them from a really skilled 8-man team.

Note: If you run only one JJ on your build, you should be ashamed of your cheating exploitery

It is not an exploit. The game is flawed in its JJ implementaiton and PGI has stated that 1 JJ mechs are fine...for now

I do agree that some people are in for a rude awakening...

I don't get why you are taking offense to his post, because what he said happens in every team based competitive game. A lot of players want easy wins and they will use any justification to stomp other teams. Whether it's purposefully sinking your ranking to match vs noobs, or abusing the matchmaking to match versus random pugs.

There are plenty of people who will embrace the new 8v8 premade games. Yourself and OP are probably among them. But don't kid yourself that every premade is desperate to fight against the very best 24/7. Pug Stomping is a highly valued form of entertainment for a lot of people. For many of these guys who aren't as good as they think, there is going to be a big blow to their ego when legitimately good teams start rolling them consistently. These players will go back to PuG games using any convenient excuse they can find. (weight class freedom is "imbalanced", or everyone picks mechs X,Y,Z and use Imbalanced weapons, so I'm going back to pug stomping where it's "fair".)

We won't miss you.

Speak for yourself. I pug because I don't have the time to organize with a team, but I vastly prefer when I've got a group on my team because they at least work together.

I don't mind if I lose to a group, I just mind when I lose because my own team is filled with idiots.

Me personally, I will be found running solo pugs, 4 man drops and 8 man drops. Win, lose, or draw, I like me some big stompy tanks.

Could very well be (about the humor) but could not be 50/50 i suppose.

I can't deny that there will be some ego hits to be sure but for the people who actually want want to play in teams the majority will simply want to get better and work harder, these would mostly be the people here all but begging pgi to put our 8 man's back so we can play with friends and use actual tactics with people that will reliably work together. The rest well ahhh ****'em they are as bad as the tk'rs and farmers in their own way.

Though I will say i am vaguely looking forward to the QQing to come it should be hilarious, especially the inevitable "premades are still stomping pugs" threads.

it wasn't really offense it was more poking fun at the expense of the unnecessary knee jerk sour grapes. that said pug stomping is boring, occasionally hilarious but 90% boring. Nothing feels more like a grind than rolling over team after team and the people actually interested in continuing that (i would bet are in the vast minority) I have no time for.

Without a doubt, 8 mans will bring out the best in the good players. It will give them a chance to test their skills and learn new tactics vs organized opponents. I can't wait to do organized drops.

I like the idea of 8v8 coming in, but thats not to say I didnt enjoy 4 person drops. They are a quick and easy way to get into games.

I found I was able to get in way more games in 4-mans than in 8 mans, there is always someone taking a ****, tending to a kid, leaving, forcing you to find another etc.

8v8 are great, but not sure why people are bashing on 2-4 person lances soo much, they were a great way to balance pick up style players. I just wish, like some one mentioned, that a 4-man is always pitted against another 4 man, and the rest is filled with solo queuers. Would make games more balanced, still seeing a lot of what looks like 2, 4 man drops, vs a full on solo queued team.

As a full time PUG, I can honestly say that I hope some half-teams stick around. Them being in the pool gives each match a little extra sense of danger, and beating them from time to time is delightful!

A little of that "Team Game" flavor without ever having to listen to a teammate throwing a fit (more than once, anyway)!

im excited. i think if there was a larger social aspect, like a world chat and channels for forming teams or something pugs wouldnt be so bad and perhaps it would be easier to spot groups that are suiciding, afking etc... just my opinion though. still excited though, 4 man teams seemed kind of small. i know its hard to believe, but i actually have more than 3 friends.

For many people, there is one thing worse than rolling team after team with no effort and that's getting rolled by team after team despite your effort. You have to be careful about thinking your mindset (and mine) of wanting to tackle challenges and adversity is how everyone else thinks. It's not. There is going to be a lot of people who either go back to pug stomps or just outright quit in the coming week or two.

A significant number of people don't really want challenges, they just want to win. When you start losing a lot in a premade vs premade you are left with the uncomfortable reality of confronting your own inadequacies. The sad truth is there are a fair number of people who are incapable of doing that. Expect a lot of excuses to emerge on this forum about why they don't play 8v8 premades.

Give it some time, and the 8v8 queue will be completely empty - a desolate wasteland of fallen hopes and dreams, as the 70 hidden number of people still playing queue alone, attempting to play some killer robot wars in a sea of scripted suicides, or immobile, absent allies.

And to think it could have all been fixed by giving us a server browser.

After tomorrow's patch, pre-mades will waive a final good-bye to the pugs with a solo mind set. Days of being shot in the back by pugs, to afking, to suicidal pugs will all end tomorrow.

It has been an interesting trip, but none the less we bid you a fond farewell.

I'm going to be polite and point out the only time I've seen a griefer TKing was a premade.

You are aware there is just one single server right? Just what do you want to browse?

I mean, on top of (or perhaps instead of) the "matchmaking" we could be able to host private games, and select which one we want to join.

Quake Live lets premium/pro (think "paying") players spawn servers. This way, everything is still server-side, not hosted client-side, but the player is able to select what maps/weapons/etc are utilized. They can also arrange private games, for scrimmages, clan wars, tournaments, and more.

Ask anyone in a eight-player group, and they'd rather go up against another eight-player group. But not just ANY eight-player group - think playing with/against your own clan (practice matches, 2 lances each side), or specific other units/corps/whatever. It's much more stimulating, and a higher level of competition, to be able to seed tournaments and play things in order, rather than queueing at the same time and "hoping" you get matched together.

Um, don't count your chickens before they hatch, we should have made landfall two weeks ago. Let us all HOPE that they can deliver this time.
