All mechs can do 500+ damage per match.
It depends on the player skill & preference.

You has given us insufficient information to give the advice.
As such, me would recommend you play in a med class mech.

Ye with SMRS 4 i guess ;), I will probably go for the A1 , or i was thinking about Atlas or HunchBack HBK-4P with med. lasers.
Difficult choice .. And what do you suggest for Atlas? thx

Me predict you will do poorly with an Atlas & suggest you stay away from it for now so that you can try it out when it be part of the trial rotation.

And what about the new ECM for the Atlas ?? And can be also [color=#959595]HunchBack HBK-4P with full med. lasers? OR which HunchBack you suggest ? Just to know  but i will probably go for the CATA A1
And also what about Catapract CFTF-4X - with 4x AC5.

You really need to play with the trial mechs and figure out which style suits you. I have a hard time in fast mechs, but think that assaults are too slow. As such, I have three different Catapults.

Some people like to hang back and provide support. Some people like to get up front and brawl. Some people like to sneak around and snipe.

There's so much more to a mech than guns and damage.

I'd agree that you should go for a lighter mech to start until you're familiar with piloting. Part of doing lots and lots of damage is getting in range to shoot mechs. That's why Jenners can do so much damage- they can shoot everything constantly for the entire match, while an Atlas will be spending a lot of time moving into position. However, when the assault gets in optimum range, they can generally do more damage quicker.

I find myself doing less and less damage as I get better aiming because I don't spread the fire around. (Or maybe I'm just better at killstealing, )

It's not the mech, but you will need to know when to hang back and when to stay alive over rushing in.

The HBK-4SP has good potential to deal damage. You can turn it into a long-range mech with Large Lasers (or ER) and LRMs or you can brawl with 5 medium lasers and 2 SRM6 or 2 SSRM2. Any mech piloted wrong will end up sub 100 damage and this includes bad decision-making. A1 Streakcat, while hated, will make it easy to land hits and rack up damage as long as you stay alive and with your group.

We cannot give you 100% sure advice. You will have to try things on your own and figure out what you are good at or what you have fun with but do read the guides here and continue to ask more questions if needed.

If you have pretty bad FPS you will need to go long-range as brawling will make your FPS drop and you will die due to choppy frame rates.

A word of warning on the Cat A1 - Ammo is EXPENSIVE if you are thinking of using Streaks or the Artemis. You'll find yourself in a position where you are relying on the 75% free ammo, and possibly running short. Coming up with a mech that doesn't require ammo (or is at least less dependent on it) may be a better start, so you can get in and get your feet wet.

Also, be patient! Your mech will not be as good when you first get it. It takes money for upgrades, and the mech skills really improve the performance of your mech. You don't realize how much of a difference something like "Anchor Turn" makes until you switch from a mech that has it to a mech that doesn't
