Or wait, does the publisher set the prices? If so then fúck you IGP. And you can feel free to redact that all you want.

I had recently read an article about FTP "whales," or players with tons of disposable money that just throw it at a game for a quick boost. The examples given in the actual article (which three minutes of googling didn't yield) were a slightly different type of game but still the same idea.
The gist of it is very few F2P players ever spend any money at all, but sometimes a very few spend a whole, whole lot. The article has a quote from a couple players that passed $10,000 without even thinking about it. Obviously they have money just laying around.
Now the dev's jobs aren't to sell a butt load of christmas lights for mechs, or bobble heads, or whatever BS - it's to make a ton of money. They seem to be banking on there being a lot of whales out there (After all, look how many founders paid 40-120 bucks for a game that was TOTALLY FREE and wasn't even out yet) that will buy MC in the max quantity every time, see some neat little trinket and snatch it up without ever thinking about price. We could toss theories back and forth about volume sales versus maximizing a small number of sales but other than voicing our dissatisfaction you have to be delusional to think you're giving the marketing team some crucial piece of info they hadn't thought of yet.
I don't know anything about PGI's marketing or sales model and I don't care about them. I enjoy the game and hope it works out but I don't have thousands of dollars to toss away on virtual toys inside of a virtual toy.

To be fair, you only pilot one mech at a time... It would be nice not to have to requip it each time you wanted to change.
I agree that the prices are too high... but bought the lights anyway (without doing the math). Regardless, I feel dumb now, and will be holding on to the rest of my founders MC until the prices change a bit, hopefully.

I really hope they pay attention to this. You shouldn't ever feel dumb, swindled, or anything like that when making what is effectively a "real money" purchase in a game. It's a bad user experience... something that ideally never happens in a game. Games are about being entertaining, engaging, and most of all fun. It isn't fun to feel like you've been "taken" and is antithetical to what many would consider good game design.

To be fair, Christmas isn't so much a religious thing anymore as much as it is a huge ploy to get people to spend a metric f***ton of money on crap they don't need.

The prices for the items are way to expensive... 7$ for a light in my cockpit? Are u kidding me? No, pls not rly.
Lower the prices to a realistic level, make the colours ownable, not just for rent, and we could talk about me spending some of my MC not only for MechBays and Premium Time....
