In case anyone missed the last seven pages worth of feedback: your **** is overpriced. I've been saving my change for weeks to buy some trashy Christmas lights I can leave up all year round, but these prices are outrageous. A man's gotta eat drink.

I agree, there is no way I am paying anything close to these prices for colors, camo patterns or in-cockpit items such as bobbleheads or holiday gear. They need to be WAY lower, or better yet...put in a monthly subscription option and allow these items to be bought with C-bills.

I noticed the new hood ornaments in the Mechlab for this Christmas holiday season and noticed 4 ornaments in there, one called an "XMAS" tree and one called an "XMAS" elf, XMAS wreath and XMAS lights. Now the last time I checked, the only holiday in December that those could refer to is CHRISTMAS.

I am a Christian and am very offended when people "X" Christ out of Christmas. "But it's just an acronym" but no one ever writes it CHRISTX, always XMAS crossing out the most important name in the holiday word.

For those of you who need an education, Christmas is a religious holiday, where people all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, God's gift to mankind. I am a Christian, not an Xian, I celebrate Christmas, not Xmas. "CHRISTMAS" is the name of the holiday that falls on Dec. 25th, not "XMAS." It's like taking the "THANKS" out of Thanksgiving or the "NEW" out of New Years. "Xgiving" "Xyears" etc.

The name of the holiday or "holy day" is Christmas, and we need to use the proper name.

:edit: Was too busy laughing to respond properly.
I suppose they used the X because it takes less space.

I have a great idea for a new item or items...

RAID
BUGS BE GONE
BUG BOMB
DEEP WOODS OFF

just an idea

I would even consider paying the rediculous item prices !!

if you spent as much time on the fix as on the money making items .....

Like "Gazelle Dropship" doesn't take up space. That's just an excuse.

Imagine you are a graphic designer/artist.

You are hired by a company to do a job related to your specialty, knowledge, and education.

And then they tell you to start fixing various game bugs.

Make sense?

No?

Exactly.

That's common misconception, read this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xmas

Xmas is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas. It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as Xtemass, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsməs/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass,[1] while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ".[2]
There is a common misconception that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas[3] by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas".

Another example of X as the letter Chi is the "Chi Rho", one of the earliest symbols of Christianity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi_Rho

I'm pretty firmly in the 'overpriced' camp here, but to be fair, I'm also one of those F2P scrubs that never actually buys anything.

Honestly, I think it's cool that they have seasonal stuff for Christmas, but it would be nice if they made at least one of the items purchasable with cb, or even cb only. Hell, make the "free" item one of the lame ones, like the lump of coal.

You know, give everyone an ingame chance to get a seasonal dashboard item for free, and then be envious of everyone that actually paid one of the nicer ones.

Ah guys, I really think you dropped the ball on this one. I would have bought every single Christmas decoration because I'm a bit of a Christmas nut. But not at those prices.

$7 for Christmas Lights? Actual Christmas lights are cheaper. It would literally be more cost effective for me to go and buy some physical Christmas lights and drape them over my monitor.

These prices be cray-cray.

Seriously, I really want to support you guys on the basis of sweet giant battle robots, but the only item that I might consider spending MC on is mech bays, and I've been holding off on that because I'm reluctant to reward bad behavior in xp tree design. All in all, I am more likely to purchase MC and never spend it at all than I am to purchase it and spend it on anything that came out in this patch.

Completely insane prices, and a huge disappointment. I wanted quite a few items, but after seeing previous prices it was kind of expected the MC cost would be incredibly overpriced to a point of almost being a deterrent to even playing the game if this is how PGI wants to run this.

There's three fluff items I would not buy, the rest I'd buy right away if the price were dropped to roughly 20% of what they are, and I'd pick up both mechs if they were around less than $8.50-$10 or so

One would have thought PGI would have learned from previous f2p games and cash shops, or hell...a little company named Valve

PGI,

I am ADD as hell, love shiny things, and work enough hours that it makes buying premium time and mechs attractive. I am litterally your easiest target market (easily distractible with spare cash to spend). Basically I want your stuff. I think the mechs are priced about right. However, with changing a paint job costing a good chunk of change each time, I can't change it often enough for it to be worth it even to me. The prices on the other shiny things is so high that I litterally fell out of my chair laughing when the I saw the price of the Atlas Santa. So PGI, help me help you turn a profit by letting me sate my magpie mind with many reasonably priced baubles by cutting your prices by a factor of 10 on cosmetic things. I can assure you that I'll buy more than 10 times the stuff if it's reasonably priced since a small amount of money paid out 10 times is a lot easier to part with than the entire amount at once.

Thank you for your attention.

I, personally, am not spending MC on anything until prices go down, except maybe premium time... but I'm only buying premium time if the prices on Mechs go down & the cost of Mechs justifies their purchase.

Like it was said before, I agree that getting $1 from 20 people is better than getting $10 from one person while making 19 people feel angry.

CBA to read the whole thread, supporting this post. Mech xmas lights that cost more than real world ones? Did you not see what happened with CCP and Monoclegate? All MC prices for premium stuff, mechs included, are too high right now. Standard mech models are ok, but could be a tiny bit lower.

EDIT: oh wow, just saw the camo prices too. Camo as MC only? Very bad, very, very bad indeed.

My two cents:

I'm a Legendary Founder, have had no interest in current hero 'Mechs, and the Founder 'Mechs don't allow changing their camo or pattern, and so I've been sitting on this pile of MC.

On one hand, I agree that $7 for those Christmas Lights is pretty damn expensive. On the other hand, I payed it anyway, because I don't care and those things are friggin' hilarious and I love them. I also would point out that PGI essentially has two options for turning a profit: charge low prices for a lot of things, or charge high prices for a few things. In MWO, the typical player will buy their 'Mech, buy some camo and paint, and maybe a cockpit item. Then they're done. Forever. That 'Mech need never change. Clearly, unless PGI implemented some sort of 'Mech destruction' rule (which nobody would want), they're never going to have 'a lot of things' to sell. So, it's high prices.

In other words: I agree both that it's a high price, and that it's a good price because the only way it'd be lower is if they monetized more parts of the game.

Read the interview with Russ on themittani.com. According to him they have plenty of items to bring out for sale.

I went ahead and bought the hula girl when it came out, but even then I had to really consider if it was worth it. At 500 MC I was seriously questioning it but I figured it would amuse me enough to go for it. I heard about the lights and got way excited about it, even more so than the hula girl (especially since I could have both in the same mech :)). Then I saw it was over 1K MC and said no way. The same goes for the Atlas Santa and the Commando Elf. So really I'd be willing to spend 1500 MC on 3 items, but there is no way I'm going to spend 1000 for just one.

Edit: I'm totally buying that tree though :) Half the cost and still has flashy bits? Hellz yeah.

I completely disagree with this sentiment. If this is really how they think their player base will operate, they're never going to make enough money to survive. I think it's safe to assume there are quite a few people like me out there who will collect a bunch of our favorite 'mechs - not just one or two.

But at the current pricing? I'll grind out the C-Bills instead of paying what they're asking for 'mechs. I'll go without Christmas lights. I'll pass on an awesome paint job.

If everything was 25-50% of the current cost, I'd be buying stuff. As it is, I'm holding on to what few MC I have left for bays (which are admittedly pretty fairly priced).

Even casual players will see more awesome 'mechs coming out and want to collect. But not many regular players are going to spend what they're asking right now if so many founders and beta players are complaining about the prices.
