Dear Developers,

Hopefully this is the right thread to post this in: I am pretty sure your marketing is NOT optimized...
I truly believe that you are chasing away many potential customers because MCs, no matter what you use them for (or if you prefer: almost all Christmas items, camo specs and the new hero mech) are WAY too expensive...
Are you sure you got your target groups right? Who has the money and is crazy enough to spend that much??? Not your average gamer.
If you would be less expensive, than your financial success would soar because it is TURNOVER you want, not expensive items or MCs few can afford.

Apart from all that: I love your game and have always regretted that I did not pay up for all Founders mechs. Please take the expensiveness-critics not as game critics!

Respectfully yours
Floh

The xmas lights are bugged. They alternate OFF colours, only the green light its lit.

Colours ideally would be fixed, and on off alternates.

Edit my lump of coal doesn't bobble... refund ?

Hero mech price does not bother me, given that the medium hero mech was 3K+. However these outrageous prices for cockpit fluff are insane. I am gonna have to side with the OP here if they dropped one 0 from all their current cockpit prices they would more then likely see sales double over night if not triple. This is not like a company making a product and having massive overhead to accomplish their goals, the fact of the matter is most of this cockpit fluff is handled exclusively by their art department and requires little to no work for the payout. Hero mechs require more work so I am fine with that price but for gods sake it is like we are paying for Picasso or Matisse artwork here when it comes to cockpit fluff.

I would Imagine that the ornaments and colours and supper fluff should float around 100-200 per unit and the hero mechs should match a price point that lines up with an MC purchase, like the 3K mark. I would imagine people are going to be (me included and I am a spender) unwilling to double purchase MCs to hit the 4K mark for a hero mech. And the ornaments themselves are just silly high. What about just a Hero Chassis? No weapons and let us wrangle that part out? That way the Price point for the hull is a standard MC purchase mark?

I figured it would too. Glad I didn't buy that one!

The christmas lights are almost too high to see in most of the cockpits, but it worked out.

You wanna buy a pet in WoW...$10. So these are not outrageous. The difference is the pet can be used on all characters. This stuff is 1 mech at a time.

At $1 a pop, I would have likely bought most all of the holiday items.. but with things like the lights being $5 to $7 (depending on exchange rate) I am hesitant to buy anything.. tho the lights do look nice.. tempted.. maybe I'll buy them one night after a Jameson or two..

Voting with my wallet

Not buying anything, including premium time (which is fairly priced btw), until micro-transactions start being micro.

Guys, it makes sense.

Christmas is not celebrated in 3049, and the bobble heads are obviously lost tech. Plus with the inflation rate between then and now, it's only right that 7$ buys you something that costs 2$ now.

In all honesty, I wonder what their monetization specialist is smoking, because It must be really good.

anyone else think these Christmas decorations have some outrageous prices?

But for every christmas decoration you buy, one dev can give his child one present!

Will no one think of the children?

More serious. Nope. The prices are ridiculous, as they have been so far for everything in their shop. The only think that I might find reasonable is their Premium Time, everything else... meh.

I thought Startrek Online was expensive in its item shop. But now they seem extremely reasonable and fair. Heck, in fact for Christmas, you got visit a Winder Wonderland with mini-games and gift packs that contained fluff stuff at no cost - and special gift boxes that were money-grabbing trickery to get game-power, which I hated.

He'S probably smoking $ Bills. But lately, he hasn't gotten much, and without it, he doesn't... work as well.

its a bit odd that it would cost this much to diminish your view...but i still run w/ my fairie and coconut monkey on certain mechs
those were free though and i look forward to better prices and more options on the dash

now if u can afford it go ahead and buy it...but the value/mc ratio is a bit off

Personally, I agree with the OP and the rest of the gang saying that the 'bling' (as well as the Cammo/paints) is too overpriced for my tastes...

So much for 'holiday gifts' ... <sigh>

The difference is that you pay a monthly fee. period. a pet is for bitchy kids and those with big wallets.

the monthly fee is there bread and butter.

MWO depends on the nickel and dime to make the money that is the difference there is no guaranteed income in thisF2P industry so the business model is push out a bunch of junk dirt cheap and let the players pick it. Look at things like dungeon fighters online (or whatever) all they make is hand over fist and they do it by selling hair color for $0.50... That is the ideal, that is the economic model.

ALL the prices in MWO are too high. I'd be willing to buy some stuff but there's no way I can convince my wife that spending $14 on a virtual robot with a shiny paint job that I don't get to keep is a worthy investment ($6 for a bobble head is an even more hopeless argument). I keep getting *thhiiiiiisssss* close to buying MC, then press cancel everytime when I think of how silly it is to pay that much money for some bits and bytes that aren't even on my machine. Heck, I bought Shogun 2: Total War off of Steam for less than the cost of an Awesome!

PGI please cater to us married guys! Throw me a bone, will yuh?

My feedback on your christmas items.
Cool Factor: Success
Pricing: FAIL
Quantity: FAIL

While there are ALWAYS people with more money than *insert common comparison* most everyone I have spoken to have said that these prices are ridiculous.

Call this a xmas special!

It's more like a xmas SCROOGE!

I actually wish that I never even bought a founders pack now.

I know PGI is running a business and needs to make money but, smart pricing means big bank roll. Simple!

I spent money when things are a reasonable price and FYI PGI, I play quite a few F2P games and the ones that have smart pricing get my money.

I already bought the lights and the tree, and will continue to happily buy things that light up and/or blink for real world money. Please continue developing such items and I will continue to buy them for the prices that have been set.
