You are failing to grasp the asburdity of setting prices at these levels for digital cosmetic items. The cost per unit production is drastically smaller than a comparable physical item as there is a one-time fixed cost vs a per-unit manufacturing cost on top of the sunk cost of designing/tooling for a physical item. There's a reason the software industry has margins in the ~30% range while manufacturing is much lower.

And you're failing to grasp the absurdity of your comparison. You're comparing the physical to what is basically vapor. When it comes down to it, if you purchase anything within a game, you get nothing. So, comparing prices in this regard is pointless.

Never fear everyone. The road map http://mwomercs.com/...-nov-27th-2012/ says this is just part 1. Part 2 comes in a couple of weeks. So everyone gets a second chance. They will get a chance to change pricing and you'll get another chance to buy cool holiday items. Everyone will win in the end!

I like your optimism. I wish I still had that much left in me, and I hope you're right.

PGI Hasn't realized the elasticity of Demand when it comes to pricing "fluff". AT 60 cents there would almost certainly be more than 10x as many buyers than at $6.

PGI, look at the pricing model for fluff in "Global Agenda" for a great pricing level with permanent ownership of colors, mods and other fluff.

Basically in GA people hoard colors and spends lots more money because "what's an extra 50 cents? I can look like a lion!"

Let's just take a look at history for a moment. Cornelius Vanderbilt was a radical in his day. With his ferry lines in New York he ended up slashing ticket costs until they were free. Then he invented the concession stand and invested in this new idea called the "potato chip".

As you can imagine, he made more money off a cup of lemonade and some chips than his competitors were making charging full price tickets for the ferry ride.

Speaking as a person who has no MC, if I where to invest in these items, it wouldn't be for this price. I'm not 'poutraged' like some people are about it, they're just seasonal items, but I'd suggest the angst about it is because they genuinely want the items (or at least one or two) and would have been willing to buy them for a lower price.

Ultimately you're in a volume market, you guys need volume pricing. Particularly when it comes to seasonal holiday items.

Yep. I've no interest in decking my Mech out for any holiday whatsoever, but I'm not going to consider even non-seasonal items for these insane prices. A dollar at the most for such things is more than reasonable.

Knock a 0 off those prices, and I'll definitely buy some holiday items. That snowman is calling me...

If the items were about half, I'd buy pretty much all of them. As it stands, I may buy one. Maybe. The Christmas lights cost just a couple of hundred less than a Jenner-F for gawd's sake.

The high prices for most of the holiday novelty items just tells me that I can do without them.

And THATS the problem, because this is how the bills get paid! if no one will buy the fluff then we wont be going too much longer...

The sad thing is, I know the guy who made the pricing is pointing out that 300 people bought items for $10. That's $3000 income! Success!

When it could be an income of 5,000 for $10.00 (all items) - $50,000.

...And then I catch them, turn em upside down and shake em....and snort that fairy dust all up. It's magic in my nose and brain...I feel the tingle. Then I keep them around....for uh....other things ;)

I can't wait to get in and have a look at th..HOLY CRAP would you look at those prices!

I'd be more amenable to spending a total of 1k on a whole lot of little things whereas with the current pricing I'll spend zero.

Of course the joke is they already have my money so technically it's already spent IRL but damn if I'm spending five bucks on lights for one mech.

So.. since a lot of us may have MC lying around, PGI already has our money.. they probably could care less what we think about the prices..

Does that mean they are hoping to sucker new users into buying MC before they fully realize how expensive these doodads really are?

And does anyone know for sure if these seasonal items are tied to a single mech when purchased?

We're talking about CHRISTMAS here. Usually christmas is about GIVING PRESENTS and LOW PRICES. How about giving us players, who have supported you, a present instead of a slap in the face?

I would like some christmas lights in my cockpit.. but 1250 MC? That's way too much for a cockpit item.

Don't you guys read the feedback at all? According to Camo Spec Feedback -poll, players are ready to pay 10% of your prices at best. I think they'd still pay even 20-30%, but that'd probably be stretching it thin. But this? I don't think you'll make money with this.

You're right. "Exiting Mechwarrior"... that's exactly what these prices encourage.

Seriously, though... I am a packrat. I would probably buy all manner of useless dodads if they were cheap. But at these prices, I have bought 0 fluff items and don't intend to.

I am certainly not against giving PGI my money... I bought a Founder's pack. But these prices? I just can't bring myself to do it.

Have you Devs never been to a dollar store? You walk out with a bag full of stuff because each item was so cheap. lol

At these prices, so many would-be-purchasers are just browsing.

I think it is seriously overpriced right now. Even 500MC for a hula seems too much, I think cockpit items should vary from 50mc upto 250mc, and no more. 1000mc for some christmas stuff, and even more for the lights, seems a bit mad.
