I'm not sure if i'm allowed to know this pre-launch yet but one of my favorite aspects in mech-art, especially pertaining to mechs with missile-pods such as the Timberwolf or in MWO's case, the Catapult, that MWO is actually including the special "covers" that cover the missiles and only open when missiles are being fired.
I'm just curious how the "covers" operate. Can we manually open/close the covers? Do they only open when you pull the trigger or push the button assigned to the missiles? Do they slowly open as you lock onto a target? I'm just curious now because i've already seen enough ingame video footage in which i've seen Catapults walk around with the missiles covered and with the covers open and sticking up in the air.
Sorry i'm just curious, lol.

If they don't open, then that is when you need to be concerned.

Look like they open when you fire the missiles.

If there was a pose/taunt key, that would be fun little extra to have a key to initiate manually opening the missile cover. Not likely given how few mechs have large opening panels.

(Mental note: Turn that detail off when in multiplayer.)

This slow-mo video also makes you appreciate the level of detail that the devs are putting into this. The smoke blast is sinked properly with the covers opening and then there's the "smoke" from the heated tubed that develope and plume out afterwards. I'm a welder by trade and whenever i weld on a pipe that's exactly what it looks like when a metal pipe is heated up suddenly. smoke literally plumes out like a giant cigar.

To me it looks like it would be a you hit the trigger there is a second or 2 before the missles fire where the hatches open. So a second or 2 delay between trigger push and actual fireing.
Minimum range would also keep doors close because I don't think you want weapons fire hitting those when they are open.
