The New Update Make Radar A Joke

If you don't have a jenner with ECM... then you are out of luck.
The ECM makes thing even worst then before when it come to radar. Having a mech trail you was the most annoying thing. Considering you can not shoot backwards like in the real game. The simple tactic was to head for your team and they would take the trailer off your but. NOW you can not even see your team or the trailing mech. No way to get to counter this situation.
Backup in a wall seem to be the only way.
GIVE ME BACKWARD TARGETING...
FASA knew something about balancing. This is not balanced.
It is still fun to see the LRM volley loose lock but loosing your team on the radar...no so fun.

But radar being terrible is a known and "working as intended" "feature" of the game.

You have to look for mechs at a distance, instead of just waiting for sensors to pick them up. The counter to ECM is your own situational awarness.

Check the pilot lab. there is 360 degree targetting in there. I haven't used it, but I am assuming it does what you ask for.

If it's not a jenner... it's some other light mech.
Radar is no a crutch... it's a tool. It give you a better perspective before you engage.
I will try the 360 when I get the GXP for it...
Still give me rear guns... to level the playing field...
Collisions would help also...lol

radar was already so fleeting that making tactical desicions on what was coming {like the old mech warriors} was out of the question. now with ecm you're either blind or a ghost on the battle field. ambushes were already too easy, now flanking has become a way of life.
summery: the game needed some fixing and the ecm has come at exactly the wrong time. this gadget is polarising teamplay into group round the ecm or get killed being singled out by being targetted. i fear that we had just 3-4 stratagises of gameplay before and it's going to become less so. catapults are going to suffer the most you just won't see them wasting time and beeing a sitting duck with missles. expect more lasers and cannons now.
and yeah the jenner is nothing, atlases and commando's have been making the most use out of this as far as i can tell. so i await to be sledged but honestly we've got to stop replacing one bad egg with another.

sir do you know what mechwarrior game play is based on!? every other shooter is about "spotting" this game is all about radar you have to way up where things are and the strength of them before you can engauge because by hell a mech is too slow to get out of it again. that's why ambushes are far too easy. shooting in the back is too common. notice how the armour is fitted half front half back as standard? never would've happened in any previous mech title. that's why i've always been dissapointed with the radar in MWO and now it would seem to be getting worse!

It's definitely something to get used to! And also requires more communication now in games instead of just sitting and shooting. I assume MOST players DO use keyboards, am I right?

But it kills what was left of the radar.
REAR DEFENSE is nearly impossible and give the back hunting to big of an advantage.

My draw distance is so low that mechs sometimes don't render at even 350m. Please advise on how to improve my situational awareness to see things which aren't rendered.
