Ecm Is Unbalanced.

1.As players are learning they are switching to those mechs that can use ECM. At this stage early tactics the team that aint all wearing ECM will be stomped.......it will be driven home by the 8 man teams who target the few players with ECM first.
2. Any lock missiles are useless currently in game as everyone switches to ECM teams. Currently Missiles are pathetic.
3. the game is DE_EVOLVING currently into slug fests with the teams with less lag easily able to dominate laggy teams with the SLUG FEST OF LASERS AND BALLISTICS in your face from a SEA of Atlas, Cicada and Ravens
As a founder I have gone from having fun....to face palming, smacking my head into keyboard.

Let's not forget the like, uber convergence issues introduced this patch due to how many ECM's are running.

Id rather have a skillfull aiming slugfest than the LRM and SSRM auto-aim fest that weve been having.

First, I have seen very few people running their ECM in counter.
Second, I have seen very few people running TAG.
We were told in advance how to beat it. Don't complain if you're going to ignore these tips. ECM has finally balanced missiles in general. SSRMs and LRMs are now support weapons, to be used when the situation is right, instead of the boating weapons we've seen forever. Don't pout and fuss, innovate.

Yeah because Tag still sucks horribly, as a split second after it loses contact on someone, hard to maintain in the brawltard matches that the game has become, the missiles lose lock and fly off into nothingness.
Only a person who has never picked up an LRM support boat would think that this is 'balance'

It's passive. A heat penalty is silly, it wouldn't change anything anyway. An ECM scout isn't valuable for firepower and the Atlas simply wouldn't be affected by such a penalty.

I was thinking more of a counter a long the lines of the ECM being so powerful that it messes with your own ability to achieve lock-on, if at all.
But that's wishful thinking. =P

well hopefully next patch will have more fixes than content. It's silly that Low settings = high resolution snow textures and icicle geometry in the snow maps.

BAP should be special in that it should be a single ECM counter for the equiped unit, that is not shared with allies of up to 180 meters.
ECM counter, and ECM disrupt radius should also show on the battlegrid and maps.

I ran tag on my centurion (I ran tag on my centurion before ecm actually) and it did me no good. Everytime I tagged a target the enemy team lit me up and I had to duck back into cover. What good does 1.5 seconds of tag do to my team? nothing.
As soon as tag laser leaves the target then lock is dropped. Who is gonna let you stand there and a hold a laser pointer on him? Even a dedicated scout with tag would have a hard time maneuvering to avoid being hit and keeping a tag laser constantly on a target. If he drops the laser for a second... everyone loses lock.
So I run a D-DC with ECM and LBX now. My last 3 matches have been exactly as OP describes. a big chaotic slugfest.
Game IS de-evolving.
Atleast in the short term. people still have to work out what to do, but more than likely everyone will just start running mechs with ECM.
Atleast for pugs anyways.
I imagine team fights with ECM are lots of fun. But I won't be able to find out till this weekend.

2. COUNTER ECM only affects one enemy mech, doesnt appear to controlled/directed. This locks come and go missiles are effectively useless in game.
3. the Brawlfest with ballistics and lasers might suit those with low pings less than 100 ms.....but oceanics with over 200 ms missile setups was the only effective counter. Yeah fine the game degenerates into slug fest......and you like removing a compete weapon setup from the Mechwarrior universe. Well done.
Only way is to Make ECM just make it longer to achieve locks, and not share data. this cloak crap/brawl stuff will pretty much bore everyone out of this game.

I've been in since early closed beta. I've had my share of boats. Now, LRM boats have for a while been strictly designed to kill through overwhelming force. This was never their intended purpose. LRMs are support weapons, intended to soften up hard targets before they reach the front lines. What are these hard targets? Assaults. If you can't keep a TAG beam on an assault, I advise you to walk away. You're pouting because you want a highly specialized type of mech to work in any situation, and I'm sorry, but square pegs don't fit into round holes. You have to mix up your builds more now. If you want to run a highly specialized mech, I suggest you get into a group of buddies and have one of them run a raven with ECM in counter and a TAG laser. That's one mech negating 2 ECMs right there. Otherwise add some SRMs to your A1s, or swap out a med/large laser for a tag in your other variants. ECMs haven't broken the game, they have drastically changed the playing field. Find a way to adjust before you declare them overpowered. It's been less than 24hrs, FFS.

They havn't balanced, they've been partially neutralized, there's a difference. LRM's were fine when the damage\trajectory was tweaked to make it a "support weapon". SSRM's were OP'ed on particular chassis's, and are by no means meant to be support weapons, And for me, the situation is right when there are enemy mechs in front of my team that I want to help destroy.

One nuclear warhead counters another nuclear warhead. Apparently this makes for plenty of fun gameplay...

I agree with this. However I don't agree with the methodology implemented to counter ECM. Having to bring more of the same leads to one flavor of meta game because it's self fulfilling. If it's an arms race for ECM, all the things that ECM counters (LRM, SSRM, etc). go to the wayside and are considered unimportant. If that's not bad balance, I don't know what is.
