There's much talk about ECM in the latest patch. But i haven't seen any congratulations to the devs. (corect me if i'm wrong)

Most here think of it as just a component they can slap on their mech, like some flavor of laser. But what the devs did is add a total new dimension to mech warefare. And yes, it's the first installment in an open beta so there are bound to be some rough edges. But the basic mechanics are there, they just need tuning and other components might need tweaking for balance.

I personaly feel ECM effect should drop over distance/LOS to the generator, giving you network-strength-like-bars. This way lock-ons and missile hits are better on a mech at the edge of the bubble. But this might be far-fetched, i assume the devs already have plans for how it's going to evolve.

For now, thanks.

I wish all the patches were as game changing as this one. I would like to say way to go dev team.

What i have seen the new patch:

-Jenners are no longer the only light mech on the match

-Streak cats all went away :o, not that i liked how overused they were but to be gone almost entirely (maybe narc needs to be better)

-spotting assists have gone way up for me (everyone is waiting to get a lock for their lrms)

-People are working together better to spot and avoid being spotted

-as a commando i am no longer afraid of jenners, but i am afraid of ravens (that has never happened before).

(i run 2d commando focused around BAP with the Sensor upgrade module and ECM with 3 Streaks an a small laser on a with max speed, i run out of ammo pretty fast but i mainly scout with a little hit and run)

I agree, good job Devs!

As a pretty dedicated Raven pilot, I love ECM and how it changes the battlefield for the most part. Jenners actually run away from me.... that is a first. I love having a new battlefield role that goes with my mech, Here are some of the good and bad and otherwise things I have noticed:

Instead of all light mechs having to compete with jenners as just another striker, there is a job of scouting that is actually functional, or a new role of masking a STRIKE TEAM as it pushes into enemy territory. Key word Team.

Players coordinate more. There are plans more often rather than a blind rush forward.

SRM's are actually worth mounting. If you do not want to wait for a lock, or pack a TAG they are an actual decent choice, and I see far more of them.

I still use SSRM's, I always use TAG so there is really no difference to me. TAG has a more functional use, and I see a lot more of them.

I am a little disappointed that most people don't take LRM's unless they are in a group and know someone has ECM and TAG to counter other ECM's. I think this will change over time as people become more used to ECM in general and TAG becomes more widely used.

Many people seem to think that the game is lost from the start if you don't have a teammate with ECM.
