Streak Cats:

Where oh where are you tonight
why did you leave me here all alone
I searched the world over and thought I found true love
but you met an ECM and POOF, you were gone

LMAO. My ECM commando and a ECM raven buddy encountered one by himself last night. Let's just say ECM working as intended. hahaha

Too bad that this also hurts every other non-boat mech that wanted to use streaks to supplement their actual armament or hunt down lights.

My HBK-4SP is saddened. :)

Mine isn't as not all lights are running around with ECM. And my lasers still work pretty good.

My teams Scat did ok to good lastnight as long as we had ECM support for him. Same with LRM boats. Rather than killing SSRMs and LRMs, it seems that ECM encourages and rewards team play.

Seriously - a friendly Commando/Raven/Cicada keeping pace with the Streak Cat is pretty nasty.

I've been actively hunting streakcats in my raven for revenge. It's sweet.

I'm just wondering how much more forum posting we will get about boating streaks being useless now before people find the next OP build.

The streakcat is an abomination anyways. It completely relies on one weapon system. That's what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. Also, ssrm cats shouldn't be roaming around the map like they're frigging dutch schaefer without an escort anyways (preferably one with eccm). Bad habits die hard.

I use my streakcat still. It's the only mech/variant I enjoy playing. Nothing beats killing light mechs.

All Streakcats need now is someone with ECM to follow them around with it on counter-mode, really.

You should tell those Gausscats what for. Or those all-laser Hunchbacks and Awesomes. Or wait, those 4xLL 'Mechs! Wait, the 6x SRM6 Catapults too! Oh, and those quad ballistic 'Phracts!

Streaks not being able to fire at all under ECM is overkill. Canonically, ECM simply turns off their magic auto-hit powers and makes that Streak Cat a simple 6 x standard SRM-2 carrier, not a 'Mech deprived of any firepower whatsoever by mystic ECM voodoo. Not that a light attacking one isn't not gonna have a field day anyway, but at least the pilot doesn't sit there with "LOW SIGNAL" going off on his map and getting peeved that suddenly, he can't play anymore.

I know. On the Internets, common sense tends to get you the common allergic reaction of people bursting into flames.

Well it certainly wasn't a triple-gauss Ilya like some doom-sayers were calling about. Hell, I think that got shot down before the 'mech even came out one people pointed out the tonnage issues that loadout would have.
