Any thought on if losing planets and territory will effect players at all?
-Perhaps + or - XP gain faction wide?
-Penalties in costs for mechs/equipment?
Would people prefer no effect on their game for how the map is situatued? (essentially making it meaningless.)

Losing territory and planets?

We don't know yet.
The general consensus is that "we" (used loosely) would like to see our actions have consequences - Example; Lose control of a ML factory and their prices go up x percentage (not a lot, just enough to be an annoyance). Other annoyances could be availability to certain factions, etc.

well from dev blog 1
- Core Worlds – Are managed by the dev team. These are worlds that necessary for future planning and part of major historical events.
- Faction Worlds – Are fought over by Faction players. These planets buffer core and border worlds, and do not play a significant role in major historical events. Rewards for controlling these planets are directly linked to global bonuses and abilities associated with a player’s Faction.
- Border Worlds – Are fought over via a contract bidding system by player run Mercenary Corporations. These planets change hands on a regular basis, and have no impact on historical events. Rewards for controlling a boarder world are significant and go directly to the occupying Merc Corp.

Under our pilots profile I would see a running ticker of how many worlds dn what type and maybe different mech types destroyed and the various means. everyone likes a runnng tally.

I don't suppose one of the developers could enlighten us on what types of worlds we might be fighting over? Examples of what I'm talking about would be earth-like, volcanic, rogue moons, planetary moons, etc.

We'll probably only see a few different maps at launch and those only a few different kinds of worlds.
Also I don't think we'll be seeing a lot of the more exotic words at launch.
Not even those volcanic worlds in the periphery that holding lets you get Double Heat Sink upgrade kits.
