Phase 2 Patch, I Was Pleasantly Surprised.

Let me be the first to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the matchmaking phase 2. Here I was fretting that the game would be overrun with Ravens, Cicadas and Atlases (Screw Atlai) all running ECM and out to ruin my day but this is not the case.
ECM seems so finely tuned and is paired well with an organised team. We were able to properly find our fit with ECM and manipulate it to suit our own ends. LRM’s are hard but NOT impossible and our LRM boat reports good damage every match. Surprisingly new life has been born of my Thors Hammer Awesome (5 PPC boat) as its damage has increased significantly in the absence of Gaussboats and Streakboats which have gone on to buy their farms. We did see some Gaussapults but apparently these guys didn’t receive the memo about Gauss Rifles exploding but we were quick to remind them.
The meteor that was Phase 2 patch making the boring builds going the way of the dinosaurs, we saw new life beginning to spawn upon the fields of MWO. Young mechwarriors protecting their newly evolved young of AC/10, LBX/10, PPC and AC/5 mechs. It was glorious watching these mechs frolic in the field hidden under the veil of ECM, /cry I wish I had taken a screenshot it was beautiful.
Congratulations PGI on a job well done, the disturbance in the force has been neutralized and balance has been restored to the galaxy.
Note: Not trolling. I’m serious!!!

Me and a group of 7 more people played some very interesting matches using ECM's. Very team oriented and very strategic.

I don't see how pre-made matches are evidence that "boating" is OP. I don't ever see streak cats, HBK-4Ps, or AWS-9M/8Q with a million of the same weapon. If anything I think they're evidence that "boating" isn't nearly as powerful as people made it out to be.

or, it could be evidence that boating is still dominant. only, not boating of one weapon, but instead one piece of equipment. i.e. ecm. i.e. ddc's + cicadas

I think at this point "boating" has lost all semblance of meaning. People just use it to mean "mech builds I don't like."

I laugh at people running Cicadas....what the hell are you thinking :/
Atlas is about as good as it always has been, pretty balanced in trade off of speed and loadout. Heavies and lights is actually where it is really at in terms of best mechs/builds atm other then the DDC ofc because that is up there with them! At least that is my opinion

4 lasers is as good as 6 with the way heat is, and you can have more torso armor than a raven. The Raven 3L is a pretty sexy beast too though.

Looking at your signature intrigued me. Here's a temp fix for you if you use Windows 7.
- Click the Start button to open the Start menu.
- Type mouse in the Search Files And Programs box.
- Select Change How Your Mouse Works from the list of items that are found.
- Select the checkbox for the option Prevent Windows From Being Automatically Arranged When Moved To The Edge Of The Screen.

In my experience 6 arm mounted laser hardpoints is a must if you are running lightweight and speedy, 4 just really is not as good, like really not, I am not even sure how to explain it beyond a simple "no". The other option is streaks on a raven with ecm, more team friendly if used correctly. If you are going for an ecm fast mech the raven is better then the cicada every time (unless you are a really big cicada fan).
