To be fair, not everyone thinks ECM is "fine." Not everyone thinks ECM is "terrible." Between two extremes, the truth usually resides.
Oh, and that's where I am!
I have no idea where these crazy ideas like I want ECM nerfed into oblivion come from Some people are willing to flat out lie to try to get their opinions taken more seriously than others. I don't think very many people at all want ECM seriously nerfed, but there need to be counters other than running one of the 4 mechs that has ECM, yourself. That's why I am coming at it from the point of view of buffing other systems and leaving ECM alone.
Some people, though, thought that their tactics would benefit disproportionately from extremely powerful ECM, so they have been in here for weeks crying about how they can't figure out how to not get killed by the oldest trick in the Battletech universe, and have now resorted to telling blatant falsehoods to try to keep their precious little tool from having anything that might interfere with it.
Yes, I used to run a streakcat; now I run a Halfcat (3xSSRM2 Commando w/ ECM). My playstyle hasn't changed, my weapons haven't changed, the biggest differences are that I can't take as much damage, but that's OK since I'm basically impossible to hit.
These clowns, though, are out here tearing up newbie PUGs who can't even effectively fight back, and saying that everything is fine. Yes, it is "fine," if you want this game to shrivel up and die as new players stay away in droves.
